Police detained NBA star Paul Pierce in handcuffs during a weekend traffic stop on the Las Vegas Strip, but released him without issuing a summons.
Las Vegas police Officer Bill Cassell said Monday that Pierce was handcuffed briefly after emerging ``a little agitated'' from a vehicle he was driving around 3 a.m. Sunday.
Clearly oddsmakers aren’t concerned with Pierce’s offseason troubles because the Boston Celtics remain favorites to win the 2009 NBA Finals Champions. The defending champs are 3/1 favorites to win next year, according to oddsmakers from online sports book SBG Global.
Along with Kevin Garnett, Pierce led the Celtics to an amazing 2007-2008 season and a NBA Finals championship over the Los Angeles Lakers. Speaking of the Lakers, oddsmakers like their chances in 2008-2009, because they too have 3/1 odds to haul in a championship next season.
