Bet on San Antonio and New Orleans
The San Antonio Spurs and New Orleans Hornets meet for the second time in four days, this time in Texas. Here’s the Friday night preview from BroburySports.com.
San Antonio is an eight-point home favorite at BroburySports. ESPN has the 9:30 pm ET tip-off.
San Antonio (34-24 SU, 27-30-1) sits in seventh place in a very competitive West Conference. They haven’t played a game since Monday. That’s a big break for this aging team that has seen better days.
Ironically, their last game was at New Orleans, a 106-92 win as three-point favorites. Guard George Hill played over 44 minutes and had 23 points. Tim Duncan added 22 of his own.
It was the third straight game that San Antonio had gone over the 100-point mark. They bring both Richard Jefferson and Manu Ginobili off the bench. That’s a pretty potent duo.
The problem for the Spurs is on the defensive end. They only allow 96.7 PPG on the season (ninth in the NBA), but they’ve allowed 106 points or more in four of the last six games. That doesn’t make coach Greg Popovich too happy.
New Orleans still alive for the playoffs
New Orleans (31-31 SU, 30-31-1 ATS) is basically a .500 team both straight-up and against the spread. The Hornets are tied for 10th place in the West Conference, currently five games behind eighth-place Portland.
That’s pretty good considering point guard Chris Paul has missed a bunch of the season. Rookie Darren Collison has filled in very nicely, and it will be interesting to see what happens to his minutes when Paul returns.
New Orleans is 1-5 SU (2-3-1 ATS) after Wednesday night’s home game with Memphis. Mike Conley had 26 points for Memphis, and they got the 104-100 win as two-point dogs.
San Antonio has beaten their Southwest Division rival (New Orleans) all three meetings this season (going 3-0 ATS). The only game in San Antonio was opening night. New Orleans was blown-out 113-96 as 9 ½-point underdogs. They hope the outcome is much closer this time around.
