4 Unit Play.Toronto +160 over Calgary

The Flames come into Toronto for their seventh road game in ten day's off a huge comeback win in Detroit. The Red Wings have a ton of talent but this is a team that in a span of a week gave up two eight goal games too teams that don't score much, not to take anything from Calgary but Kirpursoff was peppered with forty five shots and Detroit played a role in folding too. Toronto on the other hand finally had a blow up with Ron Wilson getting tossed in the final moments of their last game and then led to player's calling each other out and it is still not done there with head coach Ron Wilson saying "They're a little short on Talent'" now their is some truth to that but I also look at that last statement as a motivational tool. Simply put sometimes emotion is better then talent and I think the Leafs will have plenty of that tonight. Ton of value here.

2 Unit Play.Take Montreal -105 over New Jersey

Much talk about Brodeur tying Roy record tonight and with all that talk comes pressure. Montreal is off a home loss to the lowly Islanders and now gets a devils team that has beaten them in all three match ups this year. Looks like Kovalev won't go for Montreal but their was a stretch a couple weeks ago were they left him home on a two game road trip to wake him up and the team responded and played good hockey. The perception has shifted this line up and allowed us to get a Montreal team at a low price and I'm willing to make a small play against Brodeur and the Devils.

2 Unit Play.Take Over 6 in Carolina/Washington

Both teams coming off low scoring one goal games, both teams like the fast paced offense style which I think will happen tonight. These teams have meet four times this year with the total going over once, under twice and pushing on six the fourth time. I’m not one to say going over six holds value night in and night out in the NHL, but I have a feeling that this game is going to have two styles that are going to complement each other creating a lot scoring chances plus the fact that I'm laying even money has created value to me here.

3-Unit Play. Take Purdue (-3.5) over Illinois
Note: This is our Game of the Week.

Purdue is healthy and focused and I think ready to atone for not winning the Big 10 title. They looked very sharp yesterday and now get an Illini team that really probably played as well as it possibly could yesterday. That puts them into the same category as to why we bet against Michigan yesterday - teams can't peak in any one game in a conference tourney. Purdue is much better defensively and much more experienced than Michigan is. that means Illinois isn't going to shoot as well. Illinois has won three straight in this series so I think that the Boilermakers are bent on getting some revenge. And the bottom line is this: Robbie Hummel is back and healthy for Purdue and he looks great. Illinois picked it up without Chester Frazier, but missing your starting point guard this time of year is never going to be a good thing for a team. Illinois has been up and down all years, as proven by their 2-5 ATS mark after a win.

2.5-Unit Play. Take Florida State (+9) over North Carolina

I think we saw yesterday that North Carolina is still very, very good but that they aren't the same team without Ty Lawson on the court. I think that UNC will just play a little slower and I think that FSU's defensive pressure can really exploit that and make things even more difficult for the Tar Heels. If this game is played in the half court that 100 percent favors FSU and favors a lower scoring game. If that occurs, I think that Toney Douglas and some of the strong pieces that the Seminoles have can compete in this one. Florida State lost by just three points AT North Carolina, WITH Lawson, earlier in the season. I think the Noles can be effective in some of the same ways that Virginia Tech was. And as long as the officials don't continue to coddle Ty Hansbrough and the Heels like they did yesterday than I think FSU really could give a run at winning this game.

1.5-Unit Play. Take #Nevada (-1) over Utah State

The Wolfpack were beat last night. They were done. If they were playing anywhere but on their home court last night their season would be over. But we saw last night that having a home court edge in a conference tournament is a tremendous advantage. We don't have to look any further than what UNLV has done in past MWC tournaments for proof of that. Utah State knows that it is in a "must win" situation to get into the NCAA Tournament. But all week, for the most part, fading the must wins has been a moneymaker. I'll roll with the home team here.

1.5-Unit Play. Take Maryland (+9.5) over Duke

Maryland is just playing great basketball. There's nothing more to say. I don't think that they are any good and I don't think that they deserve an at-large spot in the NCAA Tournament. But right now the way they are playing they can beat anyone in the country. In a lot of ways they remind me of Georgia last year when the Bulldogs ran through the SEC Tournament. Duke is soft. They are soft in the middle of the court and they are laying a load of points. Maryland is playing better than Boston College was, and B.C. really should have beaten the Blue Devils last night. I don't like the uncertainty at Duke's PG spot and I think that if Maryland plays even close to what they've done the last two nights they'll be in good shape.

1-Unit Play. Take LSU (-3.5) over Mississippi State

If you look around at some of the other No. 1 seeds in the other conference tournaments and their lines were three times what this one is for the SEC's best team. Mississippi State has been playing wel. But they are still at the whim of James Varnardo's foul situation. As in, if he gets in foul trouble then LSU will win this one by 15. The Tigers are a team that does a lot of damage from the perimeter and has the length and athleticism that Varnardo won't both them as much as he did the small guards for LSU. The Tigers won the first meeting by almost 30. If LSU plays like it did yesterday then I think they could win this one big as well.

1-Unit Play. Take Auburn (+4.5) over Tennessee

1.5-Unit Play. TEASER: Take Baylor (+10.5) over Missouri (6 p.m.) AND Take Auburn (+9.5) over Tennessee

1-Unit Play. TEASER: Take Florida State (+14) over North Carolina AND Take Maryland (+14.5) over Duke

1.5-Unit Play. Take ‘Under’ 124.5 San Diego State vs. Utah

1-Unit Play. Take ‘Under’ 149.5 Florida State vs. North Carolina

Conference Tourney GOY

Bruce Weber went a quite amazing 112-28 (.800) his first four years at Illinois, including the team's 37-win season of 2004-05, in which the Illini lost in the national championship game to North Carolina. It all fell apart last year though, as the Illini went 5-13 in the Big 10 and finished 16-19 on the season. However, it should be noted that Weber and his team showed "the heart of a champion" by beating Penn St, Purdue and Minnesota in the Big 10 tourney last year, before falling 61-48 to Wisconsin in the title game. Gone from last year's team were its two big men, Pruitt (12.6-7.3) and Randle (9.4-5.5) but two little-used freshman from last year, the 6-9 Davis (2.6-1.8) and the 7-1 Tisdale (3.6-1.7), have thrived as sophomores. Davis has become the team's second-leading scorer (11.4) and its leading rebounder (7.9). Tisdale has averaged 10.7 PPG and 4.1 RPG. Weber knew he a good nucleus in his backcourt but the play of Davis and Tisdale is the main reason that the Illini enter this game 24-8 and are a 'lock' to get Weber his fifth NCAA bid in his five years. As for Purdue, much was expected from the Boilermakers this year and the team's second-place tie with Illinois (11-7) in the conference standings (Mich St was 15-3) was considered a disappointment. Painter had a terrific freshman class last year led by guard Moore, the versatile 6-8 Hummel and the 6-10 Johnson. Those players have all had solid sophomore seasons with Moore leading the team in scoring (14.0-4.8-2.9), the 6-10 Johnson (112.9-5.7) falling in line behind him and Hummel (11.8-6.4) leading the team in rebounding. Purdue has an eight or nine-man rotation with guards Jackson (5.8-3.5) and Kramer (5.0-2.8) joining the above three in the starting lineup. Key reserves are 6-4 junior guard Grant (8.2), 6-9 senior Calasan (6.8-3.0) plus senior guards Green (4.3-3.8) and Riddell (2.6). Illinois started McCamey (11.9-4.8 APG), Meachem (9.9) and Frazier (5.7-4.8-5.3) in the backcourt along with Davis and Tisdale in every game this year (Brock at 4.7 PPG, was the team's top reserve). However, the Illini's assists and steals leader, Chester Frazier, will miss the conference tourney after having surgery on an injured right hand. Frazier was named to the league's all-defensive team this week and leads the Big Ten in assists (5.3). He also led the Illini in steals (43) and minutes played (33.2). Illinois' 60-50 win over Michigan on Friday marked the first time in 30 games that Illinois used a new starting lineup, this time without Frazier. That forced all five Illini starters (Brock started for Frazier) to play 30 minutes or more. Meanwhile, only Moore played more than 30 minutes for Purdue on Friday, as the Boilermakers bested Penn St, 79-65 (Hummel had 20 points, Moore 15 and reserve Grant, 15 as well). This fact alone gives Purdue a pretty big edge in this game but it's also relevant that Illinois was the only Big 10 team to beat Purdue twice this season. What's more, Frazier was a big reason for that success. He's the team's emotional leader and best defender. The Boilermakers average 69.6 PPG on 45.2 percent shooting (35.3 on threes). However, the Illini have throttled them in both games. Purdue was the nation's 9th-ranked team when it hosted Illinois on Dec 30 but the Illini held the Boilermakers to 38.1 percent shooting in a 71-67 overtime win. In the rematch at Illinois on Feb 8, Purdue shot just 32.2 percent (an abysmal 2-of-15 on three pointers) and was held to a season-low point total, as the illini won 66-48. Purdue couldn't be happier about getting a third 'shot' at the Illini, especially without Frazier. This is it! Conference Tourney GOY 20* Purdue.
