Karl Garrett

40 DIMER - ST. MARY'S GAELS

20 DIMER - BYU COUGARS
10 DIMER - RHODE ISLAND RAMS
10 DIMER - SOUTHERN ILLINOIS

40 DIMER - ST. MARY'S GAELS - 3PM EASTERN TIP OFF!

Guess the news, Coach Randy Bennett has a team to be reckoned with at St. Mary's, as the Gaels are off to a 6-0 start, and their double digit win over a vastly improved Seton Hall team their last time out is a strong indication that these Gaels are going places this season! Oh, did I not mention the Gaels have also beat the ranked Oregon Ducks by double digits as well?

The good news for the Gaels is they get to play this game in Anaheim instead of San Diego State's home court, so the Aztecs decided home floor advantage is a non-factor this afternoon.

SD State stands at 8-1 this year, but they look to be overmatched in this revenge spot for the Gaels. Last November, the Aztecs won a tight one 74-73 as the 4-point dog on St. Mary's home floor. That is not going to happen today, as center Omar Samhan will control the paint for Mary's today making life difficult for the smaller Aztecs.

PS - Today is also the Immaculate Conception. No way St. Mary's is losing on her feast day!!!!!!!!!!

20 DIMER - BYU COUGARS - 4PM EASTERN TIP OFF

I wish this game were in Provo so I could watch the Spartans get their asses handed to them, but even in Salt Lake City, BYU will prove to be too much for the poor-traveling Spartans.

Michigan State is off a win at Bradley, a win they struggled mightily in, and now they face a BYU team whose only loss this season came against North Carolina.

BYU has a pair of players that border on 7 feet tall, so size will not be an issue when they seek revenge for a 76-61 loss Michigan State handed them last December in East Lansing.

The Cougars are 7-1 this year, and they have covered 4 of 6 games on line. Look for another win and cover in this spot today.

10 DIMER - RHODE ISLAND RAMS - 7PM EASTERN TIP OFF

The G-Man is impressed with Syracuse's upset win the other night at Virginia, as not too many teams walk into Charlottesville, and walk away with the outright win in their back pocket. That being said, the G-Man is also impressed with the way the Rams have gotten out of the gate, as URI comes to the Carrier Dome with a 9-1 mark, and an 8-1 spread mark. their only loss came by 4-points to Boston College, and they are fresh off a double-digit win over a decent Providence team.

The Rams should have enough to stay inside of the impost tonight, as the Orangemen cannot be trusted laying over a couple of baskets right now, as their defense is still a bit leaky. Remember, they allowe UMass to put up 107-points on them in regulation a few games back!!!!

Grab the underdog and the points with Rhode Island tonight.

10 DIMER - SOUTHERN ILLINOIS SALUKIS - 7PM EASTERN TIP OFF

Respect head coach Bobby Lutz and his 49ers, but this is a "due theory" game for a Southern Illinois bunch that was a stone's throw away from the Elite 8 in last year's Big Dance, and does feature 10 letterman back from last year's magical squad.

The Salukis come to town having lost their last pair of games, getting hammered by both Indiana, and Southern Cal, I don't see Coach Lowery allowing the losing streak to get to 3.

Charlotte has yet to lose at home at 4-0, but I am willing to lay a few points with Southern Illinois, as I just don't see them losing a 3rd in a row this early in the season.

Winning Points Online POD. Lost yesterday with Utah Jazz.

SATURDAY, DECEMBER 8

10 pm
**PREFERRED
Pacific* over Pepperdine by 24

In-season re-hook after they met on a neutral floor
in Alaska in November. Back then, point guard
Solomon Horsechief was a bit of a distraction for the
Pacifics, whining about playing time in the emergence
of better guards around him. Pacific had played a
quick-paced game vs. Oregon the day before, while
Pepperdine had played a more deliberately paced
ballgame vs. Western Michigan.

On that day, Pepperdine's fresher legs and relentless
pressing in the neutral environment gave them an edge
against Pacific's Steffan Johnson, thrown to the wolves
against the press. He committed six turnovers. Pacific
won the game, didn't cover, but they emerged stronger
for the effort.

Since then, Horsechief has bolted, taking his attitude
and his brick of a shot with him. Junior forward
Anthony Brown played only 19 minutes in that game
for Pacific, as coach Thomasson spread the minutes
around in the second of back-to-backs. Brown has
played 28-33 minutes in all games since. Being on
home floor, with rest, should enable Pacific to
weather all storms after seeing this fast-paced,
inexperienced outfit once already. PACIFIC, 87-63.

LAS VEGAS TECH REPORT (LVTR): CLEVELAND vs CHARLOTTE

Play: CHARLOTTE
Comments: LAS VEGAS TECH REPORT (LVTR) SELECTION: CHARLOTTE (NBA) Charlotte has been on a losing skid, but to kick it off, they playe Washington, Boston, Orlando, and actually kept a couple other games close. They did start getting crushed recently but looking closer, this team has been playong quite amount of games on the road. We are expecting Charlotte to play much better tonight with a little rest and the comforts of the home court. Cleveland will be without Lebron James and Anderson Varejao. Throw in the rest of the injuries and you have a team struggling to find some chemistry to execute the game plan. Cavs were averaging 102 points per game with Lebron. In their last five games, they have shot 37.9 percent and averaged 78.2 points without him. A 24 point drop in average is huge. Lets take the home team in this one.

LAS VEGAS TECH REPORT (LVTR): PHOENIX vs MINNESOTA

Play: PHOENIX -10
Comments: LAS VEGAS TECH REPORT (LVTR) SELECTION: PHOENIX -10 (NBA) Minnesota is being beat at an average of 9.2 points per game. We don't think Phoenix will have a problem covering that other .8. Suns are the top rated offense in the NBA and will be facing one of the worst teams out there today. We are surprised the line isn't much higher. Phoenix has not had a problem visiting the Target Center where they have got the ATS cash four out of the last five games played there.

Larry Ness' Oddsmaker's Error-CBB (4-0 run since Nov 30!)

My Oddsmaker's Error is on South Florida at 7:00 ET. Stan Heath got canned at Arkansas, despite taking the Razorbacks to back-to-back NCAA appearances. And so it goes...He's a quality coach and USF was lucky to get him. The Bulls got off to an 0-3 start but has since ripped off SIX straight wins, including a neutral site win over 8-2 Fla St, a team UAB lost to in that same tourney. The 6-9 Gransberry (15.4-10.0) is the team's "main guy," although freshman guard Jones (15.8-5.3) is currently the team's leading scorer. Another freshman, the 6-7 Chin (8.2-6.0), has made a solid impact up front, while returning guards Verdejo (12.2) and Howard (11.9-4.9-6/8) join Jones in the backcourt, giving the Bulls an outstanding perimeter game. That's good news vs UAB, which has lost starting senior PG Delaney (8.805.5-5.0) to a season-ending knee injury. Mike Davis (formerly of Indiana) went just 15-16 in his first year at UAB but was looking forward to this year, as a number of key transfers were becoming eligible. UAB is off to a 7-3 start and has been led by those transfers. The 6-5 Vaden (18.4) followed Davis from Indiana, while the 6-9 Sharpe (14.6-7.6) and the 6-7 Huffman (10.7-6.9) make up UAB's three double-digit scorers. However, without Delaney, the Blazers have had some ball-handling issues and in the team's last road game (at UL-Lafayette), turned the ball over 27 times! USF's backcourt is very good and Gransberry is the best big man on the floor. This number is WAY too cheap! Oddsmaker's Error on South Florida

DOC 'S

4 Unit Play. #726 Take Georgia -4.5 over Wake Forest (2:00 pm ESPN Fullcourt) Wake has some questionable losses this season and had to undergo a surprises coaching change and we do not think this team will bring much to the table on the road.

4 Unit Play. #750 Take Wisconsin -2 ½ over Marquette (6:00 pm ESPN 2) Many people are off Wisconsin and on Marquette based on a common opponent both team played in Duke. We are throwing that game out and feel Wisconsin can dominate inside. Wisconsin has had great success against Marquette recently and many of the players feel that it is their birthright to win this game. Bo Ryan has lost just three non-conference home games in his seven year career and that trend will continue to prosper.

4 Unit Play. #769 Take Southern Illinois -4 over Charlotte (7:00 pm) The 49ers are just the team Southern Illinois needs to get back on track after suffering two straight defeats. That being said, those loses came on the road against two likely tournament teams in Indiana and USC. Charlotte does not have any consistency when it comes to shooting the basketball and this team will struggle against a hard noise defense team. One team is soft and the other team is physically, we of course will side with the tougher team.

6 Unit Play. #788 Take Penn State -1 ½ over Seton Hall (8:00 pm Big Ten Network) Game of the Month. This is the type of situation we like to pound out for our top play. A undervalued team playing at home that has against a team that has feasted on cupcakes. We cashed in all season long with these low numbers and expect history to repeat itself on Saturday. The Pirates will be exposed much like what happed when the travel to Moraga, CA last week to play Saint Maryʼs. The Hall has not been blowing out their cupcakes this season and Penn State has yet to lose a game @ Bryce-Jordan Center. The Lions have two solid seniors in Claxton and Cornley and expect them to do damage against a young Pirate team. Penn State played a tough schedule to open the season and now has five straight games in State College and I expect them to five all five games. They have lost four games this young season, but have been competitive in all of them and today is the day they start to put it together giving us a big top play cash.

4 Unit Play. #798 Take New Mexico State -3 ½ over UTEP (9:00 pm ESPN Fullcourt) Rare occurrence where these teams have already played this season and will complete the home and home on Saturday Night @ the Pan American Center. We cashed in a big play with the Aggies last Tuesday and that in-state win over New Mexico will get this team back on track. They played a brutal schedule to open the season and now are ready for some home cooking. UTEP won the first game because of home court and now NMSU will complete the favor with Justin Hawkins going off.

4 Unit Play. #819 Take Austin Peay +1 ½ over Evansville (8:00 pm) A mid-major match-up takes place on Saturday when the Governors head into Missouri Valley territory to take on the Purple Aces. AP won the Ohio Valley last year and many think that they will repeat, as they return all five starters. Evansville is a bottom feeder MVC team and will not bring much energy into this contest.
