Tom Scott

Kansas State at Wisconsin
Prediction: Wisconsin

Reason: WISCONSIN over Kansas State by 14
The Wildcats took me down on Thursday by scoring 80 points against a team who had allowed an average of 59 points per game in its five games against three of the top four seeds in the tournament. Let's see if Kansas State can do it again. This time, the Cats will be facing a team with a far better record than USC and a defense that allowed TEN points less per game than the Trojans. Two superb angles, one at 25-4 ATS and the other at 18-4 ATS fuel this selection but so do these stunning team trends: Kansas State has NEVER covered the spread in a non-conference tourney game in any of these three roles - Away from home, as an underdog or against an opponent off a SUATS win. Granted, those trends only add up to 0-10 but that's because Kansas State rarely wins in this event (Thursday's triumph was its first since at least 1990). We'll take another defensive demon and try to add to Kansas State's dismal 3-15 ATS mark when scoring less than 80 points (Wisconsin allows less than 54 per game).

PREDICTION: WISCONSIN 74 - Kansas State 60

Matty O'Shea

Stanford -3.0 vs Marquette

Analysis: The Marquette Golden Eagles have one big weakness, and that lies in their frontcourt. They were 1-5 SU in their last six games against the top teams in the Big East that had a size advantage, and Stanford will have a big one on Saturday with the 7-foot Lopez twins. The Cardinal has enjoyed an outstanding season outside of three losses to UCLA and will be up for the challenge against a small Marquette team here. They beat a solid Cornell team badly in the first round and have averaged 36 rebounds per game away from home this season compared to just 30 for the Golden Eagles. This huge edge on the boards will be the deciding factor, so take Stanford as my Single Dime NCAA Tournament Second Round Side Play O' the Day for Saturday.

PHI / NJN Over 199.5

Analysis: Throw out the recent meetings between these two teams, which have seen the UNDER cash three out of the last four times. These teams are scoring like crazy and playing little defense lately, which should lead to another easy OVER. The OVER is 4-0 in Philadelphia's last four games and 5-0 in New Jersey's last five. The OVER is also 11-4 in the last 15 games vs. Atlantic Division opponents for the 76ers. Both teams also played on Friday night and will be traveling, so I don't think either will be up to the task defensively. Look for a high-scoring affair in Philly and bet the OVER as my Single Dime NBA Total Play O' the Day.
