Favorite is the only role the Tar Heels are familiar with and they do well with that burden. They are is 5-1 ATS the last six games as the favorite in the NCAA tourney. They are on a 21-7 ATS run when facing a team with a winning record.
North Carolina is 23-1 in this tournament when playing in their home state. They are 25-9 ATS in the last 34 tourney games they won. The Tar Heels have covered the spread 14 games in a row when facing non-conference opponents.
Short, simple and to the point... this will be another absolute blowout!

I'll be the first to admit I had my doubts about this Xavier team, but watching them play inspired ball over the past week or so has got me convinced, and has them in the perfect position against a sputtering UCLA team tonight.
One of the main differences between these two teams comes on the offensive end, where the Musketeers are as dynamic as they come. With almost 6 players averaging in double figures, and the ability to go inside (Duncan, Anderson, Brown) or outside (Duncan, Lavender, Raymond) this Xavier team can easily outpace a struggling Bruins offense.
While both teams are solid defensively, I question the Bruins ability to score on this Xavier defense. They're just as athletic, if not more, and they proved against West Virginia that their defense is the real deal. The Bruins have been anything but impressive, rallying to beat Texas A&M by 2 points, and following that ulgy win with a inconsistent effort against Western Kentucky. Bruins were sloppy in both games, commiting 33 turnovers combined, and against a solid Musketeers defense they're in real danger tonight.
Finally, match ups also dicatate a close games, as we all know guard play is essential in March. Xavier has both talent and experience in their backcourt with guards Lavender and Burrell. I've made issue about Lavender's size in the past, but I've yet to see him get taken advantage of, so I'll give the talented 5'7 senior the benefit of the doubt in this one. In the frontcourt, Kevin Love is a beast down-low, but the ability of Josh Duncan to take inside or out, will cause havoc for the Bruins star freshman center.
Bottom line, the Bruins seemingly always find a way to win, and that may be the case again tonight, but the fact of the matter remains this game will be a lot closer than the guys in Vegas want you to believe. Xavier is playing great ball right now, and the fact the Bruins have been struggling to put teams away cannot be ignored. Wouldn't surprise me in the least if UCLA loses this game outright, but we'll take the points and grab the cash with the Musketeers.
Take Xavier plus the points over UCLA in this March Mayhem Elite Eight match up.

Neither one of these teams has been playing its best basketball lately, but the Blazers have at least won their last two at home and should be able to get the best of the Bobcats in this one.
Portland lost at Golden State on Thursday 111-95 as a 13-point underdog, but beat the Wizards in Portland on Tuesday 102-82 as a one-point favorite. They are figuring out ways to score points with young start Brandon Roy out of the lineup. Believe it or not, this is a good time for the Blazers as they are forced to find ways to score with the young star and it will actually help them next season when they do have everybody and center Greg Oden back from his injury.
Charlotte has lost six of its last eight (3-5 ATS) overall but got probably its most surprising win of the year Wednesday in Los Angeles, 108-95 as a 13 1/2-point underdog. It was their first road win in their last seven outings.
The Bobcats are just 12-22-1 ATS on the road this season and really just a two-man wrecking crew on offense with Jason Richardson and Gerald Wallace. If either of those guys has an off night, it makes for a long night for the Bobcats. And Portland has the guys that can match them and cut down some of their points.
Portland has won five of the last seven series matchups (4-3 ATS) and last time they were in Portland the Blazers won 127-90 as eight-point chalk last season. Look for more of the same in this one as Portland cruises to an easy win and cover.

Phoenix Suns at New Jersey Nets
Nets fighting for their playoff lives and must rebound from last night's loss in Indiana. Big number for the Suns to cover considering the last time these teams met in New Jersey, they had to go double-OT to score a 161-157 win. Nets had won and covered two straight before the Indiana loss and are looking to avenge 116-92 January 20 loss in Phoenix.
