TCU @ Wyoming
PICK: Wyoming
Wyoming visited Fort Worth back on Jan 21 and lost 79-78 in OT. However, things are much different for both teams as they get set for today's game in Laramie. TCU's win (but non-cover) was its 12th win in 15 games but after edging the Cowboys in that contest, the Horned Frogs lost their next six games, failing to cover a single one. TCU's six-game losing streak (0-7 ATS slide) finally ended this past Wednesday, as TCU (-10) beat Air Force, 62-50. However, it should be noted that the Falcons have now dropped their last 13 games, while going 2-10 ATS. As for Wyoming, the Cowboys (just 15-18 LY) are 15-10 overall, including 14-1 at home. The team's lone home loss came to Utah, which sits atop the MWC standings with a 10-2 record. Wyoming just beat UNLV here in Laramie last Wednesday, 77-68. Guard Brandon Ewing (18.6-3.3-5.1) led the way with 29 points but he's not a one-man team, as the Cowboys have three other double digit scorers. He's joined in the backcourt by Wichita State transfer Ogirri (14.5) and in the frontcourt by 6-7 redshirt freshman Muojeke (14.6-5.0) and 6-6 senior Johnson (14.0-7.1). When the Cowboys lost at Fort Worth in the first meeting, TCU's 6-7 forward Kevin Langford (13.8-4.7) had 36 points. Head coach Jim Christian (former Kent St coach in his first year at TCU) has two other solid frontcourt players in the 6-9 Buljan (12.1-7.5) and 6-6 JUCO Ruzgas (10.6-3.2) but his backcourt is a mess. During the team's six-game slide, Christian went with all-freshman backcourt just to shake things up. Wyoming is thinking postseason (NIT or CBI) and last year's sad-sack outfit beat TCU here in Laramie, 72-54. This year's confident bunch should be able to match that margin this time around. Lay the 'short' number.
