Boston Red Sox at Los Angeles Angels

Go with the LA Angels with Joe Saunders on the hill. The right-hander is 4-0 with a 2.89 ERA in six career starts against Boston and the Angels have won Saunders' last 7 starts versus the Red Sox. Boston is 3-10 in the last 13 meetings and right-hander Brad Penny is 1-3 with a 4.99 ERA in five career starts against the Angels.

Los Angeles Angels +115

Charlotte Bobcats at Chicago Bulls

Charlotte has won both meetings with Chicago this season, but has dropped four of their last five games and four of its last five on the road. Go with the hot Bulls at home. Chicago has won seven of their last nine games and is 11-3 ATS in their last 14 home games. The Bulls are presently playing forceful on offense and should have no problems outscoring the meager offense of the Bobcats, averaging just 93.8 points per game. Charlotte is 2-6 at United Center in the last eight contests and a a horrible, 12-26 away from home this season.

Chicago Bulls -7

LT Profits

Lightning/Thrashers Under 6.5

This high posted total is based on the fact that neither the Tampa Bay Lightning nor the Atlanta Thrashers play much defense.

However, the Under is 6-2 in the last eight head-to-head meetings between these division rivals, and none of those six Unders saw more than five combined goals scored. Neither of these teams have any motivation right now, so the offenses may once again not take advantage of the chances given by the opposing defenses.

The Lightning have now scored three goals or less in 10 of their last 12 games, and they scored exactly four goals in the other two games. They are also now averaging just 2.52 goals per game on the road for the entire season.

The Thrashers have not been much better offensively, not even here at home where they are averaging only 2.88 goals for the season. Atlanta is currently on a 4-1 Under run, with the offense not exceeding three goals in any of the Unders. Sure, the Over is an incredible 49-30 in all Thrashers games this season, but the current Under run coincided with the bookmakers starting to hang 6.5 totals on their games.

Such is the case again tonight, where even if these teams combine for six goals, we would still cash this Under ticket.

Pick: Lightning/Thrashers Under 6.5

1 Unit on Minnesota Timberwolves +2

The Suns have no incentive to get up for any of their remaining games as they have been officially eliminated from the playoffs. They wanted no part of playing last night and were blown out 89-106 by lowly Memphis. The rested Wolves, having not played in 3 days, have played with heart down the stretch, winning back-to-back games and 4 of their last 6. The Wolves beat the Suns in the last meeting and the Suns are just 1-9 ATS revenging a straight up loss vs. an opponent as a home favorite this season. You can expect the Suns to let their reserves get plenty of minutes again tonight and that should mean a win for the Wolves.

3 UNIT PLAY

(Power Angle Play)

CLEVELAND +113 over Toronto

The Blue Jays are 0-7 when Roy Halladay starts on the road vs a team that has lost at least their last two games and it is not the first game of a series and 1-6 in their last 7 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of less than .400, while the The Indians are 24-7 after scoring 6+ runs and losing and 9-2 in their last 11 games as a home underdog of +110 to +150. Cliff Lee really struggled in preseason and then he followed up a horrible spring with a horrible opener, but I feel he will get it back today. Cliff is still 12-3 with a 3.10 ERA in his 21 career starts in March/ April and he was 1-1 with an 0.00 ERA in 2 starts vs the Jays last year. Roy Halladay is 1-0 this year, but he did allow 5 ER in 7 innings in that start. Cliff Lee is due for a solid outing, while the Indians are due for a win. They get their first winn of the season today.

POWER ANGLE For This Play--- Cleveland is 20-5 at home after a loss in which they used 5+ pitchers.

2 UNIT PLAY

DETROIT -1.5 (+120) Over Texas

The Rangers have lost the last 6 games in Detroit and by an average of 7.8 rpg, while Verlander is 4-1 with a 2.30 ERA vs the Rangers in his career. Justin had a rough opening outing, but the Rangers don't hit as well on the road as they do at home. Detroit put up 15 runs yesterday and should have some success vs Matt Harrison, who had a 5.49 ERA in his rookie year last year. Only 2 of the last 20 games in this series has been decided by 1 run, while none of the last 9 here have been decided by 1 run. Detroit should grab another easy win here.

New York Mets +130

The Marlins are unbeaten to start the 2009 season, but I will roll against them tonight versus the New York Mets. Florida starter, Ricky Nolasco had a superb season in 2008, but struggled in his first outing this year, and has a history of bad outings against the Mets. In 11 career appearances against New York, he is just 2-5 with a 6.27 ERA. Livan Hernandez is going for the Mets, and while he his getting up their in age, he does have a history of being effective against the Marlins with a 5-4 record and a 2.98 ERA in 11 visiting appearances against Florida. It is hard to go against the Fish here, particularly at home where they are off to a great start, but the value here is on the Mets.

Wunderdog

Boston at Buffalo
Pick: UNDER 5.5

The Bruins have had a very good season, and a lot of it has to do with goaltending and defense. The Bruins have held teams to two goals or less an amazing 44 times this season. Recently, they have been doing even better as the opponent has gotten the puck in the net just nine times in the last five games. Buffalo and Ryan Miller have allowed just two goals in the last two games for the Sabres, who will be playing in their fourth game in six nights, a situation that has produced UNDERS in five of the last seven. The Bruins are at their defensive best against teams with a winning home record, where they are 41-10-3 to the UNDER in their last 54 games. I like this one to go UNDER the total.
