3-Unit Play Take New York/Portland UNDER 210

Portland has a solid home defense and we think that they try to assert themselves defensively and set the tone for this game tonight. I think they try and avoid getting in a shootout with the Knicks. The Blazers allow just 93 points per game at home and the team isn’t one of the more explosive offenses in the NBA. New York has played a home-heavy schedule and has played to a lot of ‘overs’ lately, but they are 6-2 for the under in their last eight road games and we think that is the way this one goes tonight. The under is 6-2 in the last eight meetings in Portland.

3-Unit Play Take Charlotte/Miami UNDER 182

We got burned on the ‘under’ for our Game of the Week in the Charlotte/Atlanta game on Friday but we will go back to the well that has earned us so many profits this season. We know the Bobcats defense hasn’t been great the last few days but this is the lowest-scoring team in the NBA and they are going on the road to play a strong home defense in Miami without a ton of weapons. Their top scorer, Gerald Wallace, is out as well as Raja Bell. The Heat allow only 92 PPG in home contests and the Bobcats average only 91 PPG on the road. Miami has the No. 11 defense overall in the NBA and they are among the ten worst offenses in the league. We see this one in the 170s for sure.

2-Unit Play Take Detroit -1 ½ Over Phoenix

The Suns are one of the most overvalued teams in the NBA by the oddsmakers. They are just 8-21-2 against the spread in their last 31 games overall and 2-6-1 ATS in their last nine road games. Detroit hasn’t been great ATS at home either, but they are usually saddled with very high chalk and we just really like the slim line here tonight in a game they should win. The Suns haven’t beaten anyone lately and they have been inconsistent overall. They have only four wins in their last 10 games. We think the home-court advantage here is more than the line indicates.

Opinion Play. Take Over 64 in 2009 Pro Bowl

Generally speaking with totals in the Pro Bowl, take the over if the number is below 66 and under it is over 70. We will again follow this logic looking for our seventh cash in seven years. As we all know, they is an exhibition game and there is no blitzing or rushing the kick and thus a great advantage for the offense is created. Quarterbacks can sit back in the pocket and have a field day picking apart the defenses. 72 points were scored in the game last year and we fully expect history to repeat itself in 2009. This is the last game in Hawaii and thus both sides will want to put on a strong offensive showing and thus this will only strengthen our wager.

SMOOTH44 / WSP

NFC -2 -120
Pre-game Comment: Despite the Steelers, and the AFC, winning the Superbowl I still believe the NFC collectively possesses the best over all talent. Look for the NFC offense to make the bigger plays and for the defense to step up when it counts down the stretch.

UTAH -1
Pre-game Comment: Utah has owned this series lately winning 6 straight. The Jazz are a perfect 2-0 SU and ATS this year when coming off a win of 4 points or less. Meanwhile, the Warriors have been at their worst this year when playing on 1 days rest going 9-22 in this spot including 5-16 when playing an opponent who is also on 1 days rest! Take the Jazz!
