2.5-Unit Play. Take Buffalo (-4.5) over Ball State

The Bulls have really been able to elevate their game this year in conference play, especially on the road. And they will be 'up' for this game against one of the West's "top teams". Ball State is No. 1 in the West and are a decent club. But they are feeling the effects of not having Anthony Newell. They have lost three straight games and they have one of the worst offenses in the country. Buffalo has won nine straight and have been strong on the road, winning four straight away. The Bulls are 7-1 ATS as a favorite in this range and the favorite is 4-1-1 ATS in the last six meetings. This is a veteran Bulls squad and I think they get the job done today.

2-Unit Play. Take Northwestern (-4) over Michigan

These are two teams in perfect letdown spots. Northwestern was stunned by Illinois and Michigan laid an egg at home against Michigan State. So both are in a fragile state. But that's where I think playing at home will be even more an edge than normal - and in the Big 10 that's saying a lot. Big 10 home teams are 13-3 ATS over the last two-plus weeks and there is no reason to fight that trend. I tried to fight it with Purdue yesterday and it bit us. Now we're just going to ride it out. Northwestern has been particularly strong at home, beating Wisconsin and Minnesota at home and coming a breath away from taking down Illinois. They lost by two to Purdue and they hammered Florida State. So this is their comfort zone. They have in-season revenge and after watching the Wolverines over the last couple of weeks the inexperience of this team has really caught up to them.
