Spurs at Kings
Pick: Kings +10
The Kings are off an embarrassing performance against the Clippers. This will put the Spurs in a over-confident mood and wake up the Kings.Sacramento still is fantastic as a home dog vs a team that has dominated them recently. The Kings are 12-0 ATS (11.4 ppg) as a home dog vs any team they lost to three straight. They are 4-0 ATS in this situation this season, losing by 2 to the Suns in overtime, beating the Lakers 113-101, losing to the Cavs in overtime 126-123 and beating the Suns 126-118. Very Impressive. In their previous meeting the Spurs outshot the Kings 52.1% to 39.7%. The Kings have not failed to cover in this spot for nearly five seasons. Sacramento is 13-0-1 ATS (+9.5 ppg) at home when seeking revenge for a loss in which they shot less than 40% from the field. Also, the Kings are 6-0 ATS (8.0 ppg) at home with at most one day of rest after a double digit loss in which they allowed a shooting percentage at least 10 percentage points higher than their season-to-date average. The Spurs are 0-6 ATS (-8.4 ppg) on the road with at most one day of rest after a game in which less than 45% of their baskets were assisted and 0-6-1 ATS (-6.1 ppg) after a win at home in which Tim Duncan had at least 5 turnovers. As ugly as it is, the Kings are the side on which to be here.
MTi’s FORECAST: San Antonio 102 SACRAMENTO 97
Antony Dinero
Boston at Cleveland
Play: Cleveland -8
Expect the Cavs to put together a complete performance against the short-handed Celtics, sending the right message to a defending champion that will now have to come and win at least one game at the Q to get past a potential Eastern Conference finals. Look for the edge Cleveland gets on the boards to be the difference, comfortably overcoming any resistance Paul Pierce, Ray Allen and Rajon Rondo combine to provide.
Kevin Rogers
San Antonio at Sacramento
Play: Sacramento +11
Sacramento's season has been an absolute disaster, winning the fewest games in the NBA (16), as they play their home finale against San Antonio. The Kings are more than capable of hanging around with the league's best, covering as home dogs against the Cavs, Hornets, Nuggets, Lakers, and Hawks. Kings rookie forward Jason Thompson was quoted last week prior to their loss to the Lakers saying, "For most of the year, we have been playing to the competition. When good teams come in here is when we have the great starts." Kevin Martin will be out again tonight for the Kings with a sprained ankle, as Sacramento is 7-6 ATS as double-digit dogs without their leading scorer this season. The Spurs are just 5-9 ATS L14, and 5-5 SU/ATS L10 on the road, with only one win away from home by at least 11 points in this stretch. The Kings are part of a favorable end-of-the season system, coming off their blowout loss at the Clippers. Play on any game 80-82 home team coming off a straight up loss of 15 points or more against a team off a straight up win, as this system is 36-14 ATS (72%) since 1990. Sacramento will come out with some sort of pride in their final game in front of the home fans, as the Spurs just want to get through this game as they gear up for the playoffs. I'll take the points with the Kings.
