5 Unit Play. Take St. Louis -140 over Chicago Cubs (Game of the Week)

The offense of Chicago must be still in Chicago because it’s nowhere to be found in St. Louis. The Cubs managed just three hits in Tuesday's 3-0 loss and in Wednesday' 2-1 defeat, they didn't score until pinch-hitter Micah Hoffpauir's two-out RBI single in the ninth. With the struggles on offense from Chicago we look from the broom in St. Louis tonight. Chicago is 1-7 in their last 8 games as an underdog. St. Louis is 6-1 at home against a left-handed starter.

2.5-Unit Play. Take Houston (-145) over Milwaukee

I think that everyone want to jump on Milwaukee right now because they have been really hot. But Houston has been just as hot. They have won 7-3 in their last 10 games. Roy Oswalt has just been OK so far this year but I think that he is going to be good tonight. He is 8-1 in his last nine home starts against the Brewers and he is 7-2 overall against Milwaukee.

4-Unit Play Take LA Lakers -5½ Over Denver

Liked the Lakers last time out but a number of factors at the end of the game contributed to them not covering but that game really could have gone either way but we think that this team will play much better early tonight – they got way behind to start off the game and had to work their way back to win it by a slim margin in the end. We think Denver is the public play tonight and that is rare when THE public team, the Lakers, is not getting the majority of bets but we think the bookies set this line in order to attract more Denver money and we would rather be on the side of the bookies than the public, as always. LA has won six of eight home playoff games by double digits and they have beat Denver at Staples by double digits in five of the last six games. We think the home teams will be strong all throughout this series and that will be where the value lies here.

2-Unit Play Take Denver/LA Lakers UNDER 211

Denver shot above its season average from the field and the Lakers made almost half their threes and this one still didn’t make it above this number, much less the Game 1 number that was even higher. The Lakers have been outstanding defensively in the playoffs and we think that will continue tonight. Denver was the first opponent to score more than 100 on them in their last 11 games. If this was the regular season we think these two teams might light up the scoreboard but teams tend to play stronger defense in the playoffs and we just think that this adjusted number is still too high.
