dime bet Xavier, Ohio / Dayton Over 139.5
NCAAB: Dayton Flyers at Xavier Musketeers - Over 139.5 | Unit Value: 1 DIME

double-dime bet Arizona -2.5 vs Washington St.
NCAAB: Washington State Cougars at Arizona Wildcats - Arizona -2.5 | Unit Value: 2 DIMES

Note: This is one of the premier games ontap tonight and there is going to be a lot of action being wagered on this contest. We are already seeing much activity and the line has gone from an open of -2 to as high as -3 at some books. I actually got -2 just now but most books have what I have posted. We can look at what the Wildcats have accomplished this year and many will think that they have not done much. If you look at the record only, that would be the only assumption you could make. But this team has had a brutal schedule, having to play both at Memphis and on the road to Kansas. That OT loss to the Jayhawks was the most impressive by far, but they also have wins over Illinois, Texas A&M, at Houston, and at UNLV. This schedule is going to be good for the Home Boys, as they have certainly been tested to the max and know what it is like to be in a Big Time game such as this. Certainly there opponent is a quality basketball team but coming to play the Cats here at their homeplace is not going to be easy. AZ will come home after 4 road contests and very happy to be here. They have outstanding perimiter players, Jerryd Bayless, Chase Budinger and Nic Wise. Those 3 combined for 60 points and completely outplayed their Cal counterparts in the last game. That gives them great matchups tonight on the outside both with offense and defense, and the Cats have played very good D here at home. Both teams rank very high with both O and D efficiency and the Cougars do have the higher ranking, but the schedule suggests that AZ has had to go up against much stiffer competition overall. The liklehood of a low scoring affair is very good for this one, with a lot of halfcourt play. Our team is going to have to get after the Cougar Guards and my best guess is that they can and will. This is a small number to lay for an Arizona team that is 2-3 in the conference, hungry for a win, and coming off two losses to Wash State last year should provide us with plenty of motivation. I am laying the small number

St. Louis Blues @ San Jose Sharks u5.0

If the home/away splits for the St. Louis Blues and San Jose Sharks are any indication, both of these teams should have trouble finding the net tonight.

The Blues are averaging just 2.57 goals per game on the road, and things are not getting any easier for them, as they have scored one and two goals in their last two road games respectively. In fact, they are averaging a lowly 2.20 goals per game over the last five games of their current six-game losing streak.

The Sharks have not been much better at home, where they are averaging 2.40 goals for the entire season. Combined with the fact that they are allowing a respectable 2.64 goals in this building, it is no surprise that the Under is 12-8, 60 percent in all San Jose home games this season.

Almost predictably, the Sharks won the first meeting between these clubs 1-0 in St. Louis, and we are looking for another Under in the rematch.

NHL Free Pick: Blues, Sharks Under 5 (+100)

Thursday Opinion/Possible Best Bet
Siena (-2 1/2) over LOYOLA MD

Siena is the class of the Metro Atlantic Conference and the Red Foxes are playing well since star Alex Franklin returned from a 5 game absence. Siena is a perfect 7-0 straight up in conference games with Franklin (1-1 without him with the one loss by just 1 point). The Foxes are also 17-3 ATS in all conference road games under coach Fran McCaffery, including 3-0 ATS this season. Loyola has played well at home this season, but they Greyhounds are just 1-10 ATS the last 3 seasons at home after a victory and the line on this game should be Siena by 4 points if I only use the Foxes’ games with Franklin playing. I'll consider Siena an opinion at -3 or -2 1/2 points and I’ll take Siena in a 2-Star Best Bet at -2 points or less.

College Opinion
UL Lafayette (+12 ½) over SOUTH ALABAMA
I’ve been riding Lafayette in the past month or so, as the Ragin Cajuns are an improved team since adding Travis Bureau to the mix in mid-December. Lafayette is 9-1 ATS since Bureau took off his red-shirt (8-1 with Bureau playing) and there is still some line value favoring them, as my ratings favor South Alabama by only 10 points. The Jaguars are an impressive 9-2-1 ATS this season, but they’re 0-2-1 ATS as a favorite of 10 points or more, so they don’t seem too interested in beating up on inferior teams at home. I’ll consider Lafayette an opinion at +12 points or more.

Indian Cowboy

Looking for winning day #5 in a row and the Golden Week's of POD (7 in a Row). Coming off yesterday's 3-0 sweep. Winning 4 days in a row and 17 of 23 days in January in January (74%), Winning 18 of 24 days (75%). Only handicapper in the nation to be at 60% at this point in the season after 165 plays. Basketball 2007: 99-66 (60%) - documented. 21 of 27 POD (78%) winners and 17-6 (73%) POD in January. 7-2 this Week.

San Jose State +1.5 (POD)

Not fond of the card today whatsoever but this is the only game that stood out to me at a 62% chance of a cover so I am going to roll with it. I could easily do 3 plays today, but coming off yesterday's 3-0 day and a 7-2 week, taking it easy today with just 1 play day. I remember when San Jose State took on Idaho last year on the road and they were +5.5 home dogs that won outright by a final score of 50-49. I think the public still remembers that game and epxects this Idaho team to repeat that. Hence, roughly 55% of the public is backing Idaho here. However, Idaho isn't the home dog here but rather San Jose State is. I have San Jose State as a top 200 team facing an Idaho team that is top 310. What does that mean? Well, that typically means that San Jose State should win by a margin fo 4 to 5 points. Bear in mind though that San Jose State is going to be missing a key member of their team today in Justin Graham, their guard from Ripon California out of Ripon High school there. Thus, they lose 12 points and 3 assists per game. Now, having said that, they still played a very good Fresno State team who is top 200 at home and still won without him and received balanced scoring from their starters:

Tim Pierce: 9 points
C.J. Webster: 12 points
Chris Oakes: 11 points
DaShawn Wright: 14 points (kid has got great potential)
Jamon Hill: 14 points.

Thus, the starters from top to bottom essentially scored in double-figures and picked up the slack for Graham being out. Idaho is a team that can surprise folks at times, but this team - has not beat a top 200 team all year and they are 0-5 against them and their 3 wins are against La Tech, Central Arkansas and Eastern Washington - all out of the top 250. Is this an incredibly strong selection? Not necessarily, but I will take my chances with the road who beat a similar Middle Tennessee State team (top 225), a similar CSU Bakerfield team (top 275), Portland State (top 175) and Santa Clara (top175). This team also lost to Hawaii in their last road game who is a top 240 team so I believe they come out focused for this road ballgame agains a top 300 ranked team. This game should be tight all the way. The Idaho Vandals are 1-11 ATS as home favorites, San Jose Spartans are 4-0 ATS as underdogs of late and the road team is 4-1 ATS in this series of late.
