The Montreal Canadiens and the Toronto Maple Leafs prepare to renew their rivalry tonight, in the Molson Center. The Habs have won 3 straight in this series, and look like a good pick again tonight, against a Leafs team that has lost 26 of their 35 road games. Play on Montreal -1.5 puckline

Play On: St. Louis
Note: Sure, St. Louis has put up some ugly numbers under first year coach Rick Majerus this season, but they are still in line to land a post-season tourney (NIT) bid. Thus, the Billikens need every win they can muster and a victory over the X-Men will go a long way in achieving their goal. The Musketeers are famous for doing damage at home, but on the road they are just 10-16 ATS laying points since 2005, including 8-13 ATS as conference road chalk. We especially like the fact that Louie isn’t intimidated when playing host in this series, going 5-2 SU & ATS, including 3-0 SU & ATS when taking points! Like Tom Petty said, “We won’t back down” here either. KEY STAT: St. Louis is 26-7 ATS as a home dog off a conference game.

Game: Toronto Maple Leafs at Montreal Canadiens
Prediction: over
Reason: The Maple Leafs are coming off a 8-0 home loss vs. a weak offensive team and tonight they face a team that can score. The Leafs are allowing an average 3.25 GPG while the Canadiens score an average of 3.19 GPG. Montreal has played the over in 5 of their last 7 games. The over is 5-1 in their last 6 games vs. division opponents. The over is a profitable 17-6-2 in the last 25 meetings between the clubs. Expect a high scoring game tonight, mainly on the Canadiens part. Play the over and as a BONUS PLAY - take the Canadiens.

Ah, a road game at a fair price. Now, that’s where you want your Rhodie Rams. Not laying –15 on their home floor, where they’ve been winning but not covering since conference season began. Part of their practice T-shirt slogan of “Unfinished Business” from last season is a 77-55 loss at UMass when they were down 23-5 and went without a field goal until 8:35 remained in the first half. It’d be one thing if this was a team like St. John’s or Rice, where they just can’t score the ball. But Jim Baron’s team averaged 76 ppg a year ago and is up to 82 ppg this season, in a better position to be runnin’, gunnin’ and succeedin’ in a match-up of two free-wheelers than Travis Ford’s homers, for whom the pace is the future that he is trying to create now. RHODE ISLAND, 87-75.

Northern Colorado vs. Idaho State
Play: Idaho State
The Big Sky Conference is wide open right now and one of the surprises in the group of four teams that are separated by just a half-game is Idaho St. The Bengals, picked by most to finish fifth or worse are 6-3 in the conference and continue to shine. They played an absolutely brutal non-conference schedule, going 1-10 against Division I competition which included losses to Iowa, BYU, Boise St., UCLA, Washington St., Utah and Washington by an average of 26.7 ppg. It obviously toughened them up.
Northern Colorado has had a tough time of it, losing some extremely close games that it could have won. A huge come from behind win over Northern Arizona last Thursday is the only win in the Bears last six games. They are now sitting at 3-7 in the conference and a loss at Sacramento St. in their last game, one of the worst teams in the country, could have been a season breaker. Northern Colorado has some decent wins but this is not a good road team.
The home team is 32-10 in Idaho St. and Northern Colorado games this season so it is clear that the host has a decisive edge. One of those 10 wins for the road team happened to be the Bengals defeating Northern Colorado back on January 3rd. That 11-point defeat was the second worst that the Bears have encountered in conference action and that came at home no less. Northern Colorado has never fared well against the Bengals, going 1-15 in 16 careers meetings.
Idaho St. has won three straight games at home and is 4-1 at home in Big Sky Conference games. The Bengals home numbers are skewed due to losses against Boise St. and Washington St. that were by 32 and 30 points respectively. Idaho St. is actually a couple buckets from sitting in first place right now as a two-point loss at Weber St. two games back is the difference. The Bengals, who have the tiebreaker right now with Northern Arizona and Weber St., can move into a first place tie with a win.
Idaho St. leads the league in conference games in scoring defense, allowing 63.1 ppg and also leading in field goal percentage defense at 39.8 percent. Northern Colorado meanwhile is at the opposite end of things and it has allowed opponents to shoot 48 percent from the floor and average 75.4 ppg over its last five games. Those numbers are nearly as bad in road games. Expect the domination to continue on as the Bengals move into first place in the conference after tonight. Play Idaho St. Bengals 1 Unit
Matt Fargo went 3-0-1 on Wednesday with his CBB releases with some going 4-0 and he picked up 6 Units with the 3 wins! He remains hot as he heads into tonight with more profits on the way! The CAA Game of the Month was a winner last night and tonight it is the Big Ten Game of the Month between Indiana and Illinois backed by 36-11 ATS (76.6%) Team Angles! Watch and Win on ESPN!

Tough spot for Valpo tonight. They're off a really demoralizing loss at home to Butler, and it's not like they're in very good form currently. UWGB has been tough at home and they'll be eager to reverse a nine point loss at Valparaiso earlier in Horizon action. Cheap number gets me to UW-Green Bay to win and cover tonight.

Play on: Golden State Warriors
The Warriors are heating up going 2-0 ATS their last two games, and are 56-51 ATS at home the last three years. The Warriors are also 4-1 ATS vs the Bulls the last three years, and are 7-2 ATS at home vs Chicago since 1996. We look for the Golden State Warriors to roll over the Chicago Bulls tonight for the home ATS Win & cover.

5* Washington State Cougars
College Basketball Game of the Month is on the Washington State Cougars plus the points over UCLA. Tony Bennett's men have dropped two straight games (vs. Stanford and California) and have dropped five straight games ATS since a 69-46 blowout of Oregon St. But Wazzu has always been terrific at home when playing with same-season revenge off a SU/ATS loss. In this situation the Cougars are 76% ATS including a perfect 8-0 ATS when matched up against a .715 or better opponent. Also, .750 (or better) revenging College Basketball home dogs of +5 points or less (or PK) are an awesome 25-7 ATS since 1994 when matched up against a foe off back to back double-digit SU/ATS wins, including a perfect 7-0 ATS if our home dog is off a SU loss. Tonight, UCLA will be without one of its key players, Luc Richard Mbah a Moute. He played 33 minutes in UCLA's 81-74 home win over Washington St, and coach Ben Howland uses Mbah a Moute to guard the opponent's best player. On the offensive end, Mbah a Moute scores 9 ppg on 48% FG shooting, so his presence will sorely be missed. Look for Wazzu's senior trio of Derrick Low, Kyle Weaver and Robbie Cowgill to lead the Cougars to a win. Take the points. Good luck, as always...Al McMordie. And don't miss my other winners on this Thursday.

Today's best bet: DENVER
The Pioneers have struggled all year on the road but remain a force at high altitudes, posting a 7-1 record at home. Troy has won just twice in 10 road games this season. The Trojans rely on the 3-point shot, but Denver has allowed just one opponent to shoot higher than 30 percent on 3-pointers at home this season
