Lock Of The Day

Arizona WildCats +2

Don't be fooled by Washington's fluke win over UCLA. The linesmakers still are rewarding them for it. Arizona is clearly a better team with more talent here. Jerryd Bayless and Chase Bundinger are an exceptional one-two punch that Washington can't contend with on the perimeter. They're much better than their 16-9 record indicates. Take the Cats.

LARRY NESS

Play: Arkansas-Little Rock

REASON FOR PICK: Reports are that Arkansas State's leading scorer Banks (18.0) has been at practice this week and will play tonight, after missing the team's last game with personal problems (undisclosed). He teams with Wedel (15.2) to give the Trojans an excellent backcourt. Up front, the team goes with swingman Chia-Kur (11.4-3.7), the 6-6 Morgan (9.2-6.8) and the 6-8 Gant (6.3-4.5). Despite this fairly solid starting five, the Indians come into this game on a seven-game losing streak, failing to cover any of their last five. Arkansas-Little Rock does not have a single player averaging in double digits but the Trojans have six players who have participated in all 25 games this year, while guard Eggins (8.2-4.3) has played in 24 straight, after missing the opener. Talk about balanced scoring. Guard Moore (9.1) leads the way, followed by the 6-7 Smith (8.8-5.3), Eggins, guards Akins (7.5) and Fowler (7.0-3.7) plus forwards Edwards (6.1-3.6) and Bails (4.5-3.0). The Trojans are 11-3 SU at home and should have few problems avenging their earlier Jan 5 loss to Arkansas St in Jonesboro (77-62). Lay the points with the Trojans.
