Wednesday College Basketball Miami vs. Virginia Picks & Predictions
By ATSSportsline.com

BLACKSBURG, VA (ATS Consultants) – No. 14 Miami will look to avoid a letdown tonight when it visits unranked ACC foe Virginia Tech at 9:00PM ET.

Last game: (2/9/12). MIAMI-FLA (-6) over Virginia Tech, 65-49. Miami (15-3 SU, 12-3 ATS) is coming off two very impressive wins over Duke (90-63) and Florida State (71-47) on Sunday. Virginia Tech (11-8 SU, 7-8-1 ATS) has lost two straight, including a defeat at Clemson, 77-70, getting 11.5 on Sunday.

ODDS: Oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv have installed Miami as a 9.5-point favorite over Virginia, while the over/under is currently sitting at 136.5 at most books. The Hurricanes enter tonight’s game with a 15-3 overall record and are 6-0 versus the ACC, while the Hokies are 11-8 overall and 2-4 in the conference.

LINE MOVEMENT: The Hurricanes opened as a 9.5-point favorite and while some books have them sitting at -10, they’ve dropped to 9.5 at most places. The total, meanwhile, opened at 134.5 and has jumped to 135.5.

PUBLIC BETTING: Of the wagers placed on tonight’s game, 55% of college basketball public bettors currently favor the Hokies. This information is subject to change, however, so make sure you click on the link provided for the most up-to-date public betting numbers.

NCAA FREE PICK:
Take Virginia Tech. Here's the thing. There are some games where you have to throw the trends away. They don't favor Virginia Tech but winning on the road in the ACC is usually not an easy thing. Even though Miami has looked dominant in their last games at home, this is the same team that barely beat Boston College, 60-59 on Jan. 16, laying 6 points. Now they are laying nearly 10 against a similar team. Virginia Tech lost at Clemson and to Virginia last week, but before that had solid wins over Wake Forest and at Georgia Tech. Guard Erick Green averages 25.2 points overall and 27 in ACC play, shooting 49.5 percent from the field. Jarell Eddie (14.4) and Green combine for 53.2 percent of the offense so there isn't a lot of balance. Robert Brown averages 9.6 points, but is 8-of-38 from the field in the last four games. Cadarian Raines leads the Hokies in rebounding (6.6). Green has scored less than 20 points once this season, recording 12 against BYU on Dec. 29. Expect Green and Eddie to do enough with a strong homecourt advantage to give Miami all sorts of trouble and an easy cover.

COLLEGE BASKETBALL FREE PICK: VIRGINIA TECH HOKIES +9.5
