Charlotte at RICHMOND
CHARLOTTE minus the points

The 49ers are pissed. They come into Richmond off back-to-back buzzer beating two-point losses to Xavier and Fordham and they are still seething about the home loss to Richmond on the second of this month (Charlotte laid 10' and lost 64-58). I would have to say they are motivated to the max. History says they'll feel better about 9:00 tonight. Charlotte is 10-1 SU off back-to-back losses in their last 11 tries and Richmond is one of the nation's worst at holding off avenging teams. Winning teams who go into Virginia's capital city with revenge on their minds are 17-6 ATS in their last 23 chances. And, of the last dozen winning teams who played the Spiders with revenge, regardless of site, ten of them found success. Add a solid 35-11 angle to the mix and the Spiders get caught in Charlotte's web

PREDICTION: CHARLOTTE 66 - Richmond 55

Great Lakes

LA Lakers at Phoenix
Play on: LA Lakers

The LA Lakers have a very respectable 32-19 ATS this year including 9-1 ATS their last ten games. The LA Lakers are also 7-1 ATS when playing in February this year, and 18-9 ATS when playing on the road this year. We look for the LA Lakers to beat the Phoenix Suns tonight for the road ATS Win & cover.

Game:Virginia Tech vs. Maryland

Time: 9:00 PM EST

Line: Maryland -8.5

Rating: TWO-Star

Selection:MARYLAND TERRAPINS -8.5

The Terps will host the Hokies on Wednesday night in College Park looking to avenge a loss to this Tech team back on January 12th in Blacksburg. The Hokies took that game 67 to 66 but the Terps felt like they gave that one away. They opened the first half by turning the ball over 7 times in the first eight minutes. Not only did they turn the ball over but they missed nine of their first ten shots to start the game. Since the start of February the Terps have made an effort to continue their season while the Hokies appear to be just waiting for it to end. Maryland has gotten improved play from guards Vasquez and Hayes but the real change has been the play of forward James Gist who averages 16 points per game and 8 rebounds but his points per game has jumped to 20 since January 19th. While the offensively challenged Hokies rank 11th in the ACC in scoring and 3-point FG percentage with only 69 points per game and a below average 33% from three point land. We expect the Terps to get out to a quick start and not fall into the trap that cost them the game the last time these two met. Maryland is 19-6 ATS when playing against a team with a winning record after 15 or more games and 11-1 ATS in February games over the last 2 seasons. The Hokies are 1-5 ATS their last 6 conference road games played during the month of February since last year and 1-9 ATS after scoring 25 points or less in the first half of their last game over the last 2 seasons. Lay the points with the host as the Terps exact their revenge

John Fina

Selection: Fresno State -6

Today Hawaii will be on the road as they take on Fresno State. We will lay the points with Fresno State! One key to a Fresno State victory comes down to the fact that they have the better defense. Fresno State (at home) is allowing opponents to score an average of only 66.9 points per game, while Hawaii (on the road) is allowing opponents to score an average of 81.6 points per game. That means the Fresno State defense is allowing opponents to score an average of 14.7 points per game less then the Hawaii defense. Hawaii is 2-5 when playing on the road this season, while Fresno State is 9-4 when playing at home this season. We will lay the points with Fresno State!

Take Fresno State -6

Tony Mathews

Matchup: Utah vs. BYU

Selection: BYU -8

Explanation: We will lay the points with BYU as they face-off against Utah in Wednesday's College Basketball contest.

The BYU offense is much better then the Utah offense. BYU (at home) is scoring an average of 83.5 points per game, while Utah (on the road) is scoring an average of only 66.5 points per game. As you can see, BYU has the much better offense.

BYU has proven they are a solid at home team. In fact, BYU is 15-7-1 ATS in their last 23 home games.

BYU is a perfect 3-0 SU & ATS in their last 3 meetings aganast Utah, and should be able to get another blowout win tonight!

Take BYU -8

MATT RIVERS

For Wednesday take da Bulls in New Jersey

Chicago may be thee single most disappointing team in all of the NBA this season but when healthy there is still a ton of talent there and I really think they will come around a bit here in the second half. The trade talk involving a lot of players for Kobe Bryant definitely hurt the team in the first half and led to the firing of Scott Skiles but Chicago is still hanging around for a playoff spot in the horrific Eastern Conference and after the whole Jason Kidd fiasco should flat out win this game.

The Bulls are still a top notch team when it comes to talent as Luol Deng and Ben Gordon are stars and other guys like Kirk Hinrich, Andres Nocioni, Ben Wallace, Tyrus Thomas are far from being chopped liver. This team was extremely banged up over the past month or so and now should be healthy with Deng and Gordon back and should make a little bit of a push as they are just not that bad of a team at all despite the piss-poor record.

The Nets have not been good themselves this season and really shouldn't be getting any better in the near future after just trading away Kidd to Dallas. I actually do really like the trade for New Jersey in terms of the future but there is no way that Vince Carter, Richard Jefferson and the rest of Lawrence Frank's team can be that excited right now after losing their main man. No doubt the trade had to happen as Kidd wanted to go and that environment was not conducive to any real success but things right now, for at least the next few weeks are not any better at all. Devin Harris will acclimate himself and be fine eventually but not in game one he won't.
Chicago is an extremely undervalued team right now and will start winning some ballgames and will also be getting back quality numbers. Today will prove to be case in point numero uno!

Matt Fargo

Florida Intl vs. Florida Atlantic
Play: Florida Atlantic

Florida Atlantic is coming off a loss at South Alabama on Saturday, the second best team in the conference with a 13-2 record. Prior to that the Owls had won five straight games and were on a solid roll of eight wins in 10 games with one of those losses coming against Western Kentucky, the best team in the conference. The Owls are 9-2 at home this season and have won six straight games at the “The Burrow”. The home team is 20-5 in Florida Atlantic games this season.

Conversely, the home team is 17-7 in Florida International games as the Golden Panthers bring in a 0-9 road record into this rivalry game. They come into this one riding a two-game winning streak but it does them little good considering they have been off for a week and any momentum that was built has been lost. Florida International has won three straight games against Division I teams only once since the 1999-2000 season. It has gone 1-14 following two straight wins, losing those games by an average of 15.1 ppg.

Florida International won the first meeting this season and the loss dropped Florida Atlantic to 0-4 in conference play at the time, but as mentioned, the Owls have been playing much better of late and will be looking to add to its current one-game advantage over the Golden Panthers in the league standings. Right now the Owls are 9th overall in the conference and a win will bump them all the way up to a tie for 5th. Seeds four through eight get to host a first round tournament game making this one a must win.

These teams are complete opposites in styles and that no doubt favors the home team. The Golden Panthers are ranked 12th in the conference in scoring at 64.6 ppg and that plummets to 58 ppg on 40.9 percent shooting in their nine road games. Meanwhile, the Owls are 8th, averaging 70.1 ppg and that goes to 77 ppg on 48.9 percent shooting in home games. Recent play has expanded the margin even more as over the last five games, the Owls are averaging 85 ppg compared to 58.4 ppg for the Golden Panthers.

Florida International is 13th in the Sun Belt in turnovers per game with 18.4 and its 0.68 assist/turnover ratio is ranked 310th in the country. That ratio dips to a horrendous 0.50 in road games while the Owls have a solid 1.03 ratio at home. Florida Atlantic has covered its last four games coming off a loss while the Golden Panthers are 5-11 ATS in their last 16 games coming off a win against the number. They are a dismal 1-10 ATS playing against a team with a losing record after 15 or more games over the last two seasons. Play Florida Atlantic Owls 1 Unit

Hoops
Phoenix over the LA Lakers 115-102 Best Bet
This has to be one of NBA’s games of the year. Shaq is back in the West and now faces his old teammate and now adversary in Kobe Bryant. The Lakers, even with Pau Gasol, don’t have the size to stay with Shaq and the Suns will be motivated to put a stamp on this very important Western Conference game.

Northeastern covers over VCU 68-70 Best Bet
VCU is the best team in the CAA, but Northeastern is one of the best home teams in the league. It’s never easy to travel from Richmond to Boston to play in cold Matthews Arena. Matt Janning and Manny Adako lead the talented Huskies, who for whatever reason, play like a champ at home.

Indiana Pacers over Cleveland 99-91-Pref.
Richmond over Charlotte 71-64-Pref.
Hofstra over Towson 74-60-Pref.

Hockey

Sports Gambling Hotline

Tonight we will go with Wisconsin minus the small number at Illinois. The Badgers have rebounded nicely after their home loss to Purdue with a pair of conference wins and covers, and Bo Ryan's gang is a positive 6-3 against the spread on the road this season.

Illinois has dropped 4 of their last 5 both straight up, and against the spread, and the Illini are a money-burning 3-8-1 against the spread at home this season.

Looking at the series numbers, it is Wisconsin that has reeled off the last three meetings, covering in two of those three.

With the road team having covered in 6 of the last 8, we have no issue laying a few points with the Badgers on the road tonight.

Play on Bucky Badger in this Big 10 showdown.

5* WISCONSIN

LOCKOFTHEDAY.COM
February Record 18-6

Today's Lock: Atlanta Hawks +6

The Hawks just traded for Mike Bibby. Now Bibby gets to play against his former team in Sacramento. Atlanta is making a playoff run. Sacramento is throwing in the towel on this season. The Hawks were blown out by the Lakers last night; they will not be blown out two games in a row. Hawks will cover tonight

Kendall Holiday

Our free selection for February 20th is on the Utah Utes making the short trip to Provo to face BYU. BYU is off a big home win against UNLV and has won eight games in a row, which includes a road win at Utah by three points. Utah has won five of six, and has no doubt circled this rivalry game since their loss on January 19th. These two teams are relatively similar to one another in that they like to slow it down and control tempo and both can shoot the basketball. Utah has played very well on the road in conference play beating Air Force outright, which is not an easy thing to do, and playing SDSU close before their injuries and suspensions. They also took New Mexico to OT before failing to get the cover. We think Utah catches BYU at the perfect moment after a big game, and we'll take the points here for two units.
