Nelly

Cincinnati + over Pittsburgh

Cincinnati closed the season with five consecutive losses but the Bearcats are still a threat for an upset in the Big East tournament. Cincinnati closed the regular season with an embarrassing loss to Connecticut, losing by 45 points but recall that the Bearcats were faced with a travel nightmare leaving the Ohio snowstorms last weekend and the game was even delayed a day. Cincinnati beat Pittsburgh at home earlier this season and recently lost by just six in Pittsburgh. In that game Pittsburgh had just six turnovers and shot a dozen more free throws but the Panthers could not pull away from a Cincinnati team that dominated the rebounding and can catch hot streaks with long range shooting. Cincinnati was a successful underdog this season with an 11-6 ATS record and the Bearcats also had a winning ATS record away from home with most losses coming in very close games. Pittsburgh is just 5-9 ATS in the last 14 games and by winning three of the final four games the Panthers should feel comfortable that they have done enough to reach the NCAA tournament. Pittsburgh is just 3-7 S/U in the last ten games played away from home. Look for a tight game as Cincinnati's defense should be able to keep the Bearcats in the game and even have the opportunity for the upset if the outside shots are falling.

The Big East tournament opens early Wednesday with one of the most critical games of the week as Villanova and Syracuse face off in what may be an elimination game from not just the Big East tournament but from NCAA tournament bid contention. This closely lined game appears to be an even match after a split during the regular season but Nelly's has isolated a major edge that should give one side a big advantage in today's game, leading to a solid margin of victory.

Seattle vs. Boston

The past back-to-back scenarios haven’t been very profitable for Supersonic supporters as they have a tough assignment at hand having played at Indiana yesterday and now are hosted by the powerful Boston Celtics in Beantown. With the Seattle defensive shortcomings apparent of late with Sonic games going Over the Total at a 4-1 ATS rate, we use Seattle – Boston OVER the TOTAL as our Wednesday selection in NBA action.

Marc Lawrence

Play On: Cleveland Cavaliers
Note: Cavs look to make amends against the Nets from a pair of setbacks suffered before 'the trades'. Now that King James has a legitimate supporting cast, look for Cleveland to become a serious threat to win Eastern Conference honors for the second straight year. Meanwhile, New Jersey finally returns home off a 5-game West Coast road trip, which is never a desirable situation when it comes to handicapping the NBA. Couple New Jersey’s lukewarm 12-20 ATS mark in home games this season, along with the amazing Key Stat we’ve uncovered inside this game, and you can see why we see the Cavs cutting down the Nets here tonight. KEY STAT: New Jersey is 1-27 ATS in its last twenty-eight home losses as a dog.

Rockets @ Hawks

The beat goes on for the amazing Houston Rockets. What's almost as remarkable as their winning streak is the fact they've covered all but two of the wins, indicating there's been little the oddsmakers have been able to do to adjust. Until the Rockets come back to earth, they're still play on material. The Hawks are one of the teams that looks the weariest right now, as their team defense has been very shoddy lately, so the game plan says stay with the Rockets minus the points.

Game: New York Islanders at Florida Panthers
Prediction: over

Reason: New York has played the over in 7 of their last 9 road games and that includes last night's 8-4 loss in Tampa. The Islanders have played the over in 4 of their last 6 games. The Panthers have played the over in 6 of their last 8 home games vs. a team with a losing road record. The over is 9-4 in their last 13 home games overall. In the last 10 meetings between the clubs in Florida the over is 6-2-2. Play the over.

Fordham vs. St Joseph's
Play: St Joseph's

1 Unit, Take St Joeseph's -7.5, The Hawks are simply the superior team here Wednesday afternoon and I have them winning by double digits against the Rams. The Hawks are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games off a loss against a conference rival and they are also a perfect 3-0 ATS in the first round of a tournament the last 3 seasons. The Hawks are shooting 49.3% as a team on the road this season and 47.8% as a team against conference opponents while the Rams are shooting just 40.9% as a team against conference opponents. The Rams are just 2-8 ATS in a game where the posted total is 130 to 139.5 and they have not covered on a neutral court as a dog of 6.5 to 9 points the last 3 seasons. Take the Hawks to cover this number Wednesday afternoon and make sure you get on my PAC-10 Tourney Game of the Year tonight.

Wyoming -6.5

I don’t lay points very often in conference tournaments, but there are times where the chalk is the clear choice to make. Usually, these are the type of games where the underdog has but one game left in their season – this game. Colorado State is that kind of an underdog. It’s hard for a 6-24 team that went winless in Mountain West play to get excited about their chances. It’s even harder when they have to travel for an early start game here in Vegas, a game that probably won’t have more than a smattering of fans in the Thomas and Mack Arena for the 11 AM local time tip-off.

When we throw in the injury situation for this very bad team it gets even worse for their psyche and their chances of making a stand. Colorado State has a pair of seven footers in Stuart Creason and Ronnie Aguilar, a duo that combines for 16 points and 12 rebounds per game. Neither is expected to play here, suffering from ankle and foot injuries respectively. Wyoming won both regular season meetings by double digit margins. They covered the spread in their Mountain West Conference tournament opener last year by a double digit margin as well. Expect a similar result this time around. (#756) Take Wyoming.

Vegas Experts

Tulane Green Wave at Marshall Thundering Herd

Wave has failed to cover eight straight but before that was 10-7 ATS. It lost at Marshall 68-54 as a 3.5-pt. dog then fell at home to the Herd 70-68 as the same 3.5-point dog. Now on a neutral court with double-revenge working it gets 2.5 points from the oddsmaker. Wave was a two-point dog to Marshall in the '06 tourney and won 64-58. MARSHALL is 26-44 ATS when the line is +3 to -3 since 1997 and 1-9 ATS as a neutral court favorite or pick since 1997.

Play on: Tulane

NICK JONES

Rhode Island -1.5

There are several situational trends that play in favor of Rhode Island for this opening round of the Atlantic 10 Tournament. Probably the most important trend being to play on any team, Rhode Island, when they are a good shooting team making 45-47.5% against a good defensive team allowing only 40-42.5% after 15+ games, and after a game where they made only 20% of their 3 point shots or worse. This trend has posted a 119-76 ATS record over the last 5 seasons. To put his in plain english we are playing on a team that normally shoots great when they are coming off a not so great performance. I expect to see Rhode Island win this game, but also this to be a very high scoring match up.

Vancouver Canucks @ Anaheim Ducks u5.0

The Vancouver Canucks behind all star goalie Roberto Loungo (2.21 GAA,.921 SV%) are one of the toughest teams in the NHL to score on as is evident by their 2.52 GAA on the season. The Anaheim Ducks are also a staunch defensive team, allowing an average of just 2.39 GPG on the season, behind top tier goalie JS Giguere ( 2.14 GAA, .921 SV%). With that said, look for these two teams to partake in a hard fought , western conference tilt, that will see both squads put forward a conservative transitional style of play. Final notes & Key Trends: Anaheim has gone under in 5 straight games and in 12 of their L15 overall. The Canucks have only eclipsed the number in 2 of their L10 overall. These teams have not gone over the total in 7 straight meetings, with the average combined score ringing in at 4 GPP. Play UNDER
