DOC'S

4 Unit Play. #728 Take Pittsburgh -8 ½ over Cincinnati (7:00 pm ESPN) The Big East Tournament opens up today and we will attack game three of four on Wednesday. The Bearcats have lost five straight games and cannot wait for this season to end. Pittsburgh cannot afford a loss to Cincy to keep their tournament hopes alive and they will take this one by double digits.

4 Unit Play. #737 Take Rhode Island -1 ½ over Charlotte (8:50 pm A-10 Network) The Rams have lost six of their last seven games, but will turn it around on Wednesday in the nightcap of the A-10 Tournament in Atlantic City. The Rams have been an outstanding neutral site squad this year currently 5-0 and win No. 6 will come tonight. They shot terrible in their last game against Charlotte but will make amends for that tonight and move onto the quarterfinals of the A-10.

4 Unit Play. #740 Take Eastern Michigan -2 over Ball State (12:00 pm) This is a play against Ball State, as they have lost four of their last five games and have been one of the worst teams in the MAC all season long. This is a rubber match and since the Cardinals beat the Eagles once this season, they will not take them lightly on Wednesday. State will have no answer for Carlos Medlock and thus the Eagles will cruise to a much needed victory.

4 Unit Play. #764 Take Over 130 ½ in Oregon State vs Arizona (11:30 pm FSN) The Kevin O’neil era will live on for one more day, but we will not worry if Arizona can cover this inflated number and just collect with the over. Arizona still plays an up-tempo style and not much defense and that will allow them to reach the eighties in points and the Beavers will find the sixties.

4 Unit Play. #768 Take Sacred Heart -1 ½ over Mount St. Mary’s (7:00 pm ESPN 2) This is a home for the Pioneers and that will be enough to propel them into the Big Dance. Sacred Heart has already won once @ Mount St. Mary’s this season and will complete the quinella on Wednesday in Fairfield. The Mountaineers finished two games behind the Pioneers in the standing and the winner of this game will be lucky to avoid the play-in game. The Pioneers shot poorly in this last outing, yet still won the game and expect a much better effort on Wednesday behind Brice Brooks and company.

Larry Ness

Rhode Island -1.5 vs Charlotte

Are the Rams dead? I guess one could argue so. On Jan 2 Rhode Island was 14-1 and ranked No. 22 in the nation but lost at No. 17 Dayton, 92-83. The Rams won the rematch with the Flyers on Feb 2 (82-70) and looked like an NCAA 'lock' at 19-3. Then the 'bottom' fell out. Rhode Island finished the year on a 2-7 slide (1-6-1 ATS) and only a A-10 tourney title will get the Rams 'dancing' this year. However, I'm sticking up for Jim Baron's team and give them a great shot to win the A-10 tourney. Let's take a closer look at the team's 2-7 'collapse.' The Rams lost a two-point game at U Mass and suffered a three-point OT loss at Temple. In close home losses to Xavier and St Joe's, the Rams saw the Musketeers shoot 54.0 percent and the Hawks shoot 62.2 percent. Are you kidding me? Baron's an excellent coach and in his son Jim (13.9) and Bitee (12.0-4.5 APG), he's got an excellent guard duo. In the 6-8 Daniels (18.8-6.7) he's got one of the A-10's best forwards. Also, Rhode Island's frontcourt is the deepest in the league, with the 6-8 Seawright (9.3-8.4), swingman Cothran (7.7), the 6-6 Ulmer (7.3-4.9) and the 6-6 Mbang (6.5-4.7) all joining Daniels. Charlotte cannot match that type of depth or talent in its frontcourt with the 6-7 Mack (12.9-5.1), the 6-7 Coley (8.5-5.7), 6-6 freshman Wilderness (8.4-4.9) and the 6-10 Jones (3.4-3.1) trying to keep up. Goldwire (18.8-4.4) is a terrific guard and four other perimeter players combine for just under 20 PPG, giving Charlotte and edge in depth on the perimeter. However, Charlotte depends way too much on its three-point shooting, owning the lowest percentage of two-point scoring in the entire conference. Case in point was last Saturday's season-finale for both teams, when the 49ers won in Kingston over the Rams, 74-64. In that game, Charlotte made 12-of-25 three pointers with Goldwire scoring 34 points (6-of-13 on three pointers) and Mack scoring 19 points (6-of-7 on three pointers. Meanwhile, the Rams shot an abysmal 33.9 percent for the game, including 3-of-21 from behind the three-point line. Jim Baron likely couldn't have hand-picked a better opponent for his team's first game in this "must-win" tourney. Can Rhode Island "run the table?" That's for later. For now, expect the Rams to return the favor from last Saturday, winning by 10 points or more! A-10 Tourney GOY 20* Rhode Island.

CALIFORNIA is 15-5 ATS in road games against conference opponents over the last 2 seasons. CALIFORNIA is 14-5 ATS in road games after a conference game over the last 2 seasons. CALIFORNIA is 13-5 ATS in road games after 2 consecutive conference games over the last 2 seasons. CALIFORNIA is 7-1 ATS in road games after 3 consecutive conference games this season. CALIFORNIA is 7-1 ATS in road games after one or more consecutive overs this season. CALIFORNIA is 23-10 ATS in road games off a road loss against a conference rival since 1997. CALIFORNIA is 22-10 ATS in road games after allowing 80 points or more since 1997. CALIFORNIA is 15-5 ATS in road games after playing 2 consecutive games as an underdog since 1997. CALIFORNIA is 30-16 ATS in road games after playing a game as a road underdog since 1997.

CALIFORNIA is 9-2 ATS in road games after playing a road game over the last 2 seasons. CALIFORNIA is 12-4 ATS in road games after 2 straight games where they had 5 or less steals over the last 2 seasons. CALIFORNIA is 9-1 ATS in road games after 2 or more consecutive losses over the last 3 seasons. WASHINGTON is 5-15 ATS off a road cover where the team lost straight up as an underdog since 1997. California really played good ball in their final 2 games despite 2 straight up losses. The dropped one at Southern Cal by only 4 points and then went into UCLA to lose by only 1 in a game they should have won SU. We'll play California for 3 units tonight!

Memphis Grizzlies (15-48) at Denver Nuggets (37-26)

The Denver Nuggets have lost their last two games, both on the road, playing poor defense. But, Denver will be back on their home court tonight where they have played very good. They have won three straight at home and are 25-7 this season. The Nuggets are 11-4 ATS in their last 15 home games and should be able to hammer the gloomy Grizzlies. Memphis has lost 17 of their last 19 games overall and are a ghastly 4-26 on the road this season, going 12-17-1 against the spread. The Grizzlies have not been successful against the Nuggets, especially in Denver, just 3-21 all-time. Memphis is 3-10 ATS in the last 13 clashes versus the Nuggets, 1-5 ATS in the last six at the Pepsi Center.

The Grizzlies are surrendering an average of 106 points per game and will have difficulties stopping Iverson and Anthony on their home court. Take the Nuggets at home. Denver is 2 1/2 games behind Golden State and wins are vital to seize the No. 8 and final playoff spot in the Western Conference.

Denver Nuggets - 15.5

CBB

Buffalo (10-19) vs Miami (OH) (15-14) Miami (OH) Red Hawks - 9.5

Seton Hall (17-14) vs. No. 24 Marquette (22-8) Marquette Golden Eagles -10.5
