INDIAN COWBOY

Sixers -3 (NBA POD)

2-1 yesterday and 9-2-1 in March Madness 2007.

Ah, you see say, "IC, the Nuggets got pounded yesterday by the Pistons and there is no way they lose today". It is true the Nuggets got pounded yesterday, but the Nuggets also pounded a very proud Sixers team at home in Denver by a score of 109-96. The Sixers remember have won 8 of their last 10 ballgames and frankly, have made me some considerable cash. The Sixers are the same team that beat Detroit on the road outright - which Denver failed to do last night, they beat Chicago on the road by coming back 40-20 in 4th quarter, covered their last 8 of 10, beat the Spurs at home and beat Phoenix on the road. This is one of the top 5 teams in the East in my opinion and because of their defense, they can resort to even being top 3 - why do you think they beat the Pistons? And remember, they beat the Magic at home with revenge as well and in fact, jumped all over them in the first half. You could say the Nuggets are a great team - they are, but that's at home - on the road, they are very questionable, losing to the Bucks, Spurs, Utah, Houston, Chicago and Orlando. In fact, the are 12-20 on the road. It's the Sixers defense, their revenge, and the fact they are rested will make the difference in my opinion as the Nugs are 0-6 ATS when playing on 0 days rest and the Sixers are 8-0 ATS when playing a team with a losing road record.

Morgan State +17 (College POD)

I wish I had time for a nice elaborate write-up but time is winding down and I want to get this out and frankly, I want to focus on the tourney tomorrow that is to come. I feel that I have four quality picks to ride with and we will live to fight another day tomorrow with the research. As for this pick, I like Virginia Tech as they are a good team, but keep in mind this team will find it tough after losing to North Carolina to get fired up about this game. How do you go from the University and top ranked Tarheels of North Carolina to Morgan State? It's a tough changeover and I figure that this team is going to be sleep walking for most of the first half similar to Virginia against Richmond yesterday. Morgan State has all the reason in the world to play for here and get fired up and don't forget this team lost to Uconn, on the road at Uconn by 4 at the start of the year and they lost to Miami of Florida another ACC team by just 4 on the road. Do not underestimate this team as they can ball and that is exactly what I expect them to do today. The Hokies are 2-7 ATS as favorites of 13 points or greater.

Hornets -5

Long story short here, I find it hard to believe that the Rockets are going to sweep the New Orleans Hornets, a team that is competing for the best record in the West currently. After winning 20+ games, it is tough to get fired up coming off your first loss and a burial at that at home against the Celtics. Of course, if Yao was there, it would have been different, but he wasn't there yesterday and he won't be there today as this team travels to New Orleans where the Hornets are awaiting their back to back frustrating losses. You better beleive the Hornets will be fired up for this game, especially since they nearly coughed up a game to the Bulls the other day. The Hornets had a terrible start to that game and I expect them to start off strong the whole way through as they were looking ahead specifically for this game. I think the Hornets lay the wood down and win by double-digits today. Tyson and Chris Paul are ready to go for this one. The Hornets are 5-0 as home favs of late.

Miami of Ohio +4

Do you remember when I took Rider as a straight up power play yesterday over Old Dominion and they covered? Well, this is exactly the same type of play today. Miami of Ohio is a team that I have 20 points ranked higher and roughly 20 points better in power rankings in wins. Miami of Ohio is a team that nearly beat Louisville on the road, comes out of a very competitive conference where they are top 85, lost to top 30 power ranking in the tourney by a bucket 47-49 in a great defensive battle, lost to USC by 4 on neutral footing, lost to Dayton by 1 at home and frankly, this team has played better teams, and a significantly tougher schedule that Tulsa with all do respect who only played Memphis and they were drilled by them. I like Miami of Ohio in the way they are coached, their overall discipline, I have them ranked higher in power ranking and their RPI and this is pure and blunt a spreadsheet power ranking selection here. I believe this line is wrong and I believe that Red Hawks are likely to win outright. The Redhawks of Miami of Ohio are 6-2 ATS on the road of late. Get your tums ready for this one.
