Wunderdog

Miami at Dallas
Pick: Dallas -5

The Miami heat is certainly in a better place than they were last year and will be in the playoffs, however they still haven't learned how to win on the road, especially vs the good teams. Over the last two and a half months the Heat has lost every game vs a team with a winning record they have played on the road and have covered just one of them. The Mavs are holding down the eighth and final playoff spot in the West so every game is crucial for them and they have been tough at home at 26-9. mavs are 7-1 ATS at home vs a road team with a losing record and 11-4 ATS in their last 15 as a home favorite. The Heat is just 4-11-1 ATS in their last 16 vs the Mavs. I'll go with the Mavs here.

ROCKETS vs. SUNS

The Houston Rockets continue their battle for playoff position in the tightly packed Western Conference race tonight when they visit the Suns, who are looking to rebound from a winless road trip. Houston (48-26) has clinched a playoff spot but could finish anywhere from second to eighth place in the West. Houston cruised to a 110-93 home win over the Los Angeles Clippers on Saturday night. Phoenix (40-34) has not given up on getting back into the playoff picture despite missing some big opportunities to make a move over the last week. Phoenix took a season-high six-game winning streak into a three-game road trip but returns home going 0-3, and the Suns lost 126-118 to conference-worst Sacramento on Sunday night. The Rockets led by as much as 19 points in a 94-82 win in Phoenix on Nov. 12th, then outlasted the Suns 116-112 in Houston on March 6th. The Rockets point guard Aaron Brooks has averaged 24.5 points while shooting 57.6 percent (19-for-33) in those games.Brooks scored 21 points Saturday as the Rockets shot 52.4 percent while recording 22 assists on 43 field goals. The Suns' offensive execution was solid Sunday, but their defense was lackadaisical giving Sacramento it's second-highest point total of the season with seven players scoring in double figures. Nash had 31 points and 14 assists on Sunday and scored a season-high 32 with 13 assists in his last game against Houston. This is an important game for both teams to win and with a few days of rest for both teams, their offense will be in hi gear. The big men will get a lot of easy baskets in this fast paced sytle game.TAKE OVER 224 1/2

Jeff Alexander

1 Unit on New Jersey Nets -1

Expect the Nets to bounce back strong at home tonight following their most embarrassing defeat of the season. Detroit endured a very physically and emotionally draining battle in Cleveland last night and that is going to make it very tough for the Pistons to get up for this one. Here's the key: Plays on any team after trailing their last 2 games by 10+ points at the half against opponent after a combined score of 175 points or less are 47-15 ATS the last 5 seasons. We'll bet the Nets in this bounce back spot.

BEN BURNS

St. Louis Blues @ Chicago Blackhawks
PICK: Chicago Blackhawks

The Blues have been on a nice roll and they won their most recent game by a score of 5-2. They're still just 6-14 when coming off a victory by two goals or more. That goes hand in hand with their 8-17 record, when coming off a game in which they scored four goals or more.

Yes, the Hawks are coming off a game last night, which has helped to keep tonight's line somewhat more reasonable than it would have been otherwise. However, they're a respectable 4-2 this season, when playing a home game after having played the previous day. Having lost last night's game, along with both home games with the Blues this season, the Hawks figure to be extra "hungry" this evening. Added motivation will come from the fact that they've now fallen to fifth in the West, one point out of fourth.

Despite having dropped the first two games here, the Hawks are still 8-4 the last 12 times that they were a host in this series. They should be able to bounce back and cool off their longtime rival this evening. Consider Chicago.

EZWINNERS'S FREE SELECTION

Date: Wednesday, April 1, 2009

Game: Houston Rockets @ Phoenix Suns

Sport: NBA

Time: 9:05PM CST

(513) Houston Rockets (+1)

After losing to Utah and Sacramento in back to back games you can
put to rest any slim chance that the Suns had to slide into the playoffs.

The Rockets continue to play well and are battling for the number two
seed in the west. Look for another solid road performance by the
Rockets who are 6-1 against the spread in their last seven road
games. Rockets win.
