Oklahoma City at LA CLIPPERS +1'

The G-Man is on 14-7 with my free plays the last 3 weeks.

NBA regular season ends tonight, and I have a winner on the Clippers over the Thunder. Yes, it is a meaningless game, but the G-Man likes LA to close the season out on a winning note.

Oklahoma City has lost their last pair, and 6 of their last 7 straight up, going just 2-5 against the spread in those 7 games. Overall, the Thunder has dropped 8 of their last 11 games against the spread, and their series numbers against the Clippers certainly leave a lot to be desired, as Los Angeles has won and covered the last 4 meetings, and the Clippers are also 14-3 against the spread the last 17 series meetings.

Los Angeles may own just 1 straight up win their last 9 games, but based on the numbers listed above, the G-Man will side with the home team in this meaningless regular season finale.

Take LA.

1♦ LA CLIPPERS

NEW ORLEANS HORNETS / SAN ANTONIO SPURS
Take NEW ORLEANS HORNETS

An embarrassing 86-66 loss to Houston assured that the Hornets are in must-win mode for the regular-season finale in San Antonio on Wednesday night, a position they could have avoided if they'd managed to beat the Rockets. Now to earn the No. 6 seed, New Orleans has to beat the Spurs. A tough spot for the home team and Tim Duncan, who have battled injuries, including Duncan's sore knees. San Antonio is on a 6-10 ATS run. Look for the Hornets to bounce back from that awful defeat and make this a game. Play the Hornets.

Houston Astros vs. Pittsburgh Pirates

You know your pitching staff is in rough shape when Mike Hampton is part of the rotation. Hampton used to be a great pitcher and taking nothing away from him but his time has come and gone and injuries have been the cause. He has started only 14 games over the last four seasons and while his lone start so far this year was decent, it was hardly impressive. He allowed three runs on four hits and four walks in five innings in picking up the loss in St. Louis. He has absolutely dominated the Pirates throughout his career, going 10-3 with a 2.71 ERA in 16 starts including four of his last six starts against them where he allowed no runs. However, he has not faced Pittsburgh since 2003 so any history that he has is completely meaningless. He did finish strong last season with the Braves but he was unimpressive in the spring and he has looked to already have carried that into the regular season. The Pirates counter with Ross Ohlendorf who is certainly no household name but he could turn into one. He held the Cardinals scoreless through six innings and ended up charged with two runs and seven his in six-plus. He only struck out one and seldom came close to the advertised velocity in the high 90’s, but he walked only one and seemed fully in control throughout. He got the loss but that came against Chris Carpenter who happened to be better that day. Ohlendorf will face an offense that has yet to produce. The Astros are averaging only 2.3 rpg and are hitting only .234 thus far. The offense was supposed to carry this team and the 1-6 record shows why they have not been successful. The pitching staff has an ERA of 6.45 on the year including 5.19 from the bullpen and with Hampton on the hill, that bullpen will no doubt be used tonight. The Pirates also fall into a solid situation. Play on favorites with a money line of -110 or higher that have allowed four runs or less in five straight games going up against an opponent after a loss by six runs or more. This situation is 66-21 (75.9 percent) over the last five seasons with the average run differential being +2.1 rpg. This may seem like a big number to be putting down on the Pirates but until Houston starts getting things going, which doesn’t look like anytime soon, the value is still there. 3* Pittsburgh Pirates

Los Angeles Angels at Seattle Mariners

We love the Halos at an underdog price, noting that they are 32-14 in the role. Even if the line moves and they are favored, we still like the visitors here as they have just dominated Seattle through the years, taking 27 of the past 40 meetings, including 13 of 20 here in the Pacific Northwest despite last night's extra inning loss. Angels starter Jered Weaver looked very sharp last time out, allowing no earned runs and only four hits.

Play on: LA Angels

Sacramento Kings vs. Minnesota Timberwolves
Play: Over 209

With nothing to play for here for both teams, look for players to just try offensively to pad their stats and run and gun. A lot of pts will be scored in this final game of the season. Here are some trends to consider. Sacramento is 7-3 OVER their last 10 games as an underdog and they are 6-2 OVER when playing with one day of rest. The Kings are 9-4 OVER on the road their last 13 games vs. a team with a losing home record. Minnesota is 35-17 OVER their last 52 games as favorites and they are 8-1 OVER their last 9 games as home favorites. The Timberwolves are 4-0 OVER their last 4 games vs. losing teams and they are 4-1 OVER their last 5 meetings with the Kings. PLAY ON 'OVER'

Time: 7:05PM CST

(975) Baltimore Orioles -$102

(Listing Hendrickson and Benson)

The Rangers have lost five straight games and they send Kris Benson
to the mound who was shelled in his first outing this season. The Orioles
counter with Mark Hendrickson who was very sharp in his first outing and
should get the job done against the good left handed hitters in the Rangers
lineup. Look for the O's to pick up the win here.

Diamond Minds

PITTSBURGH to beat Houston. 10 units

Monday we gave out San Diego at + 205 against the Mets. Everybody I know thought differently. The Mets opened in their new stadium and many thought the elements were all favoring them to beat lowly San Diego. We thought differently. The game was a big overlay . There were no technique reasons that the Mets should be a heavy favorite! However today we do like the Mets. San Diego which was one of last year's worst teams is being asked to win a 5th game in a row. Bad teams that must travel long distances seldom ever win 2 in a row on the road against +500 teams. We believe their streak will end today. All the pieces are in place for the Mets to win and maybe it will not even be a close game. I could give some high tech reasons but it is best left unspoken. Our one and only bonus play we plan on listing all baseball season will be today. The Mets are the play.

Greg Shaker

Boston Red Sox at Oakland Athletics Over 8.5

Note: Both teams hitting the ball well and both starters off to less than stellar starts. Wakefield does not like the West Coast at all. The knuckleballer has dropped seven straight road starts against AL West opponents, with a 7.51 ERA in those outings. He has not won in Oakland since 1999, and he gave up eight runs in five innings in his lone start there last year. He also does not like the Home Plate Ump, with opponents grabbing 16 runs verses the Sox in 3 starts. Anderson is highly touted but did not look too sporty at all in his first effort this year. The Sox have a very good hitting team and their bats have started to come alive. Combined these squads are 12-4 OVER this year. This is an Under venue but day games here have not fit that mode as much. With last night's contest, the Pens are a bit stretched for this one as well and obtaining 9 runs or more here is going to happen often and often enough to make this play.

Boston Red Sox vs. Oakland Athletics
Play: Under 8.5

Ai Simulator 3* graded play UNDER Oakland/Boston slated to start at 3:35 EST. AiS shows a 72% probability that 8 or fewer runs will be scored in this game. Boston starter Wakefield is a solid 30-13 UNDER (+15.6 Units) in road games versus poor base running teams averaging 0.5 or less SB's/game since 1997. This makes total sense as Wakefield throws a very slow knuckle ball which gives base runners a huge advantage in stealing 2B. Yet, if the team is not a strong speed team then it really doesn’t give that team any additional advantage on the base paths. Boston is off to a slow start to say the least, but they do have strong tendency to focu on defense first in these situations. They are 235-170 UNDER (+48.5 Units) after having lost 4 or 5 of their last 6 games since 1997. Oakland Skipper Green is also in a solid role for the UNDER noting he is 29-10 UNDER (+18.0 Units) in home games versus teams outscored by opponents by 0.5 or more runs/game on the season. Sox are also 10-4-1 in Red Sox last 15 road games versus a right-handed starter. Last, but not least, UNDER is a strong 21-10-1 in Athletics last 32 after allowing 5 runs or more in their previous game. Take the UNDER

Doc's Sports

St Louis Cardinals vs. Arizona D-Backs
Play: Arizona D-Backs

Free Agent Jon Garland, picked up by the D-backs, won his first regular-season start for his new team last Friday. Joel Pinerio pitched well in his season debut for the Cards, but he's often pitched well at Busch Stadium. The excitement of last nights extra innings win should carryover for the home team tonight. Doc’s Sports has a hot card going on Wednesday, jump on the action now.

Philadelphia Phillies vs. Washington Nationals
Play: Philadelphia Phillies

Washington remains winless on the season at 0-7 this year. Philadelphia is scoring 6.7 runs per game on the road this year. Washington bullpen has been lousy with a 5.93 ERA overall and an 11.25 ERA at home this season. Philadelphia is 25-12 overall vs Washington the past 3 years. Phillies are 4-0 in their last 4 games vs. a team with a winning % below .400. Phillies are 4-0 in their last 4 Wednesday games. Phillies are 6-1 in their last 7 games as a road favorite. Phillies are 10-2 in their last 12 road games with the total set at 9.0-10.5. Phillies are 4-1 in their last 5 games as a road favorite of -110 to -150. Phillies are 4-1 in their last 5 when their opponent scores 5 runs or more in their previous game. Phillies are 8-0 in Blantons last 8 starts on grass. Nationals are 11-45 in their last 56 games following a loss. Nationals are 3-13 in their last 16 games with the total set at 9.0-10.5. Nationals are 3-14 in their last 17 games vs. a starter with a WHIP greater than 1.30. Nationals are 1-6 in their last 7 games as a home underdog. Nationals are 1-7 in their last 8 home games. We'll recommend a small play on Philadelphia tonight!
