WNBA Prediction: Atlanta Dream at Chicago Sky
By Nick Lagouretos
Bangthebook.com

An All-Eastern showdown takes place in the first game of the night, when second and third worse teams of the conference are clashing, as the Chicago Sky (9-16), who finally got away from the bottom of the East, are hosting the struggling Atlanta Dream (10-14).

Chicago Sky also have an 9-16 record so far this season (12-13 ATS) and are now sitting in the second to last place of the East. In their last game they snapped a three-game losing streak by winning on the road against Indiana Fever with an 81-70 score. Allie Quigley leads the team in scoring with 17 ppg, followed by Stephanie Dolson with 14 ppg and 5.8 rpg. Cappie Pondexter adds 10.6 ppg and 4.6 assists per game.

Atlanta Dream have a 10-14 record so far this season (11-13 ATS) and currently sit on the third to last place of the East. They have lost four of their last five matches and in their last game they lost on the road against Minnesota Lynx with a 69-54 score. Tiffany Hayes leads the team in scoring with 16.8 ppg, adding 4.3 rpg. She is followed by Brittney Sykes with 12.2 ppg, while Layshia Clanderon adds 12 ppg and a team high 7.1 assists per game.

This will be the third time those teams meet this season, with Chicago leading 2-1 wins, with each team having won on the road. Chicago are 2-9 at home, while Atlanta are 3-9 on the road. Chicago are slightly better offensively, scoring 80.6 ppg to Atlanta’s 80.2, while Atlanta are better defensively, allowing 81.8 ppg to Chicago’s second-worse of 84.8. Chicago have better percentages both in field goals, shooting with 45.4% to Atlanta’s 41.6% (third-worse), and in 3-pointers, shooting with a third-best 36.5% to Atlanta’s league-low of 28.1%. Chicago dish a second-best 20 assists per game to Atlanta’s 18, while Atlanta commit less turnovers, with a third-best 13 to Chicago’s second-worse of 16.1. Both teams grab exactly the same number of rebounds (34.7). Chicago have been extremely inefficient at home, but Atlanta are struggling mightily lately, so it looks like an easy Chicago win tonight.

Prediction: Chicago Sky -2.5

WNBA Prediction: Seattle Storm at San Antonio Stars
By Nick Lagouretos
Bangthebook.com

An All-Western showdown takes place in the second game of the night, when the two worse teams of the conference are clashing, as the worse team of the WNBA, the San Antonio Stars (5-21), who are coming off their 5th victory of the season, are hosting the struggling Seattle Storm (10-14).

San Antonio Stars have the worst record in the league with 5-21 (13-12-1 ATS) and they are coming from back-to-back wins for the first time this season. In their last game they won at home against Washington with a 76-74 score. Kayla McBride leads the team in scoring with 16 ppg and 4.1 rpg, followed by Isabelle Harrison with 11.8 ppg and a team high 6.1 rebounds per game. Moriah Jefferson adds 8.9 ppg and a team high 4.5 assists per game.

Seattle Storm have a 10-14 record so far this season (10-13-1 ATS) and are sitting to the second to last place of the West. They have lost four of their last five matches and in their last game they lost on the road against Dallas Wings with a 93-80 score. Breanna Stewart leads the team in scoring with 20.1 ppg, adding a team high 8.6 rebounds per game. She is followed by Jewell Loyd with 17.5 ppg, 3.4 rpg and 3.3 assists, while Crystal Langhorne adds 13 ppg and 6.2 rpg.

This will be the second time those teams meet this season, with Seattle having won both previous matchups. San Antonio are 4-10 at home, while Seattle are 2-8 on the road. Seattle are better offensively, scoring 82.1 ppg to San Antonio’s league-low of 74.5, while San Antonio are better defensively, allowing 81.9 ppg to Seattle’s 82.9. Seattle have the second-best percentage in the league both in field goals, shooting with 47.8% to San Antonio’s 42.8%, and in 3-pointers, shooting with 37.2% to San Antonio’s 32.9%. Seattle dish a third-best 19.3 assists per game to San Antonio’s 17.3, are better in turnovers committed (15 to 16.5), while San Antonio are better in rebounding (33.3 to 30). San Antonio started to get hot and Seattle are very weak on the road, so expect a San Antonio win or loss by less than 6 points tonight.

Prediction: San Antonio Stars +6
