WNBA Betting Pick
By Allen Moody
Bangthebook.com

Our winning streak in the WNBA came to an abrupt end last night, as Indiana stunk it up from the field and two of Washington’s better players saw limited time. That puts us at 24-19 for the season heading into the lone game on the schedule tonight, which is Atlanta at Seattle, where the Storm are favored by 4 and the total on the game is 161.

The Dream are 8-9 on the season and are 7-10 in totals, scoring an average of 79.6 points per game and allowing an average of 80.7 points. Atlanta has played better at home, where they have gone 5-3 and outscore foes by an average of 5.3 points per game, compared to the road where they have posted a 3-6 record and have been outscored by 6.7 points a game. The Dream have fared a little better against the West, going 4-3 both straight up and ATS.

The teams met once in Seattle last month and Atlanta came away with a 91-86 victory in a game that went into overtime, as Atlanta’s Damiris Dantas scored a career-high 22 points. The Dream was 7 of 21 from 3-point range in that game, while the Storm struggled and were just 5 of 26. Both teams shot plenty of free throws and were solid from the charity stripe.

Seattle has been a better team at home and were favored by 9 points in the first game, so there was a shift of 6 points in the opening number, although the line has climbed slightly. The Storm are just 8-10 on the season and coming off a home loss to Connecticut, as the team has come crashing to earth after a 5-2 start to the year.

Seattle is 4-4 ATS as a home favorite, but has struggled a bit with the Eastern Conference, going 4-7 straight-up and just 3-8 against the number. Seattle’s schedule is about to get a little tougher, as they have a game with the resurgent Chicago Sky on tap, followed by Los Angeles, Dallas and Minnesota, so this is a game that Seattle needs desperately to keep up in the Western Conference.

The loss to the Sun is forgivable, as Seattle was just coming off a big win against Los Angeles, but will have to be focused on this game. My numbers say Seattle by an 87-74 final, so will have to follow suit in this one and take Seattle -4 for today’s play.
