WNBA Prediction: Los Angeles Sparks at Indiana Fever
By Nick Lagouretos
Bangthebook.com

A clash between two teams from opposing conferences and both being very hot and streaky takes place this evening at the Bakers Life Fieldhouse, when the Indiana Fever (6-6) are hosting the defending champions Los Angeles Sparks (8-3), with both teams looking to extend their current winning streaks.

Indiana Fever have a 6-6 record so far this season (5-6-1 ATS) and currently sit on the third to last place of the East. They have won three of their last four matches and in their last game they won on the road against Chicago Sky with a 79-91 score. Candice Dupree leads the team in scoring with 14.8 ppg, adding a team high 6.1 rebounds per game. She is followed by Tiffany Mitchell with 12.2 ppg, while Erica Wheeler adds 10.8 ppg and 3.3 apg.

Los Angeles Sparks have an 8-3 record so far this season (5-6 ATS) and currently sit on the second place of the West and second in the whole league. They have four straight wins and have won six of their last seven. In their last game they won at home against Phoenix Mercury with a 90-59 score. Nneka Ogwumike leads the team in scoring with 20.3 ppg and 6.7 rpg, followed by Candace Parker with 16.8 ppg and team highs both in assists, with 4.5 per game and in rebounds with 7.1 per game. Chelsea Gray adds 15.8 ppg and 4.4 assists.

In their previous meeting earlier this season, Indiana won at home with a 93-90 score. Last season Los Angeles led Indiana 2-1 wins, with each team winning at home. Indiana are 5-1 at home, while Los Angeles are 2-3 on the road. Los Angeles are better both offensively, scoring a league second-best 86.8 ppg to Indiana’s 80, and defensively, allowing a third-best 79.5 ppg to Indiana’s second-worse of 85.7. Sparks also have better percentages both in FG’s, shooting a league-best 48.8% to Fever’s 44.9%, and in 3-pointers with 36.8% (third-best), to Fever’s 29.7% (second-worse). Those two teams are the last in the league in rebounding, with Sparks being second to last with 28.5 to Fever’s league-low of 28. Sparks have been struggling on the road this season, so pick Fever in this one.

Prediction: Indiana Fever +6
