Dallas at Atlanta: The game is even and the total is 165, while my numbers have Atlanta winning 89-85. The NBA totals methods all three are predicting an under, so I’ll stay away from the total in this one. Dallas is 9-9 on the season and have played nearly as well on the road as they have at home, going 5-5 in front of the home fans and 4-4 when on the road. The Wings score and allow 86.8 at home and have a margin of -3 on the road. Dallas defeated Atlanta 94-84 at home four days ago, as both teams barely shot 40%.
The Dream scores 78.1 points both home and away, but they allow 85 points on the road and 75 at home. Atlanta is 4-3 at home and 3-5 on the road. Atlanta defeated Indiana 89-68 two days ago and are 1-6 in home totals on the season.
New York at Phoenix: Phoenix is a bit of an enigma, as the Mercury are 4-4 at home with a scoring margin of +7.4 and 5-2 on the road with a scoring margin of -1. The Mercury played their best after a loss, as Phoenix is 3-5 ATS after a straight-up win and 6-0 ATS after a straight-up loss. The Mercury defeated San Antonio 92-77 last game, hitting 58% from the field and 55.6% on 3-pointers. Both are season-highs.
New York is in the final game of a four-game road swing, which has seen the Liberty go 1-2 so far, with losses at Washington and Atlanta and is coming off a win last game at Seattle. The Liberty haven’t scored 80 points in any of the first three games of the road trip.
My numbers make this one Phoenix 81-76 and the Mercury are favored by 5 with a total of 159. All three of my modified NBA methods are calling for this one to sneak under the total, so I’ll tag along and follow suit in this one for today’s play.
