WNBA Prediction: Connecticut Sun at Dallas Wings
By Nick Lagouretos
Bangthebook.com

A clash between two teams from opposing conferences and both being hot and currently running lengthy streaks takes place this evening when the Dallas Wings (7-8 ) are hosting the Connecticut Sun (6-5), with both teams looking to extend their winning streaks.

Dallas Wings have a 7-8 record so far this season (8-7 ATS) and currently sit on the second to last place of the West. They started to get hot, having won three consecutive matches, despite being 1-6 before that. In their last game they won on the road against San Antonio Stars with an 81-69 score. Skylar Diggins-Smith leads the team in scoring with 17.7 ppg, adding a team high 5.6 assists per game. She is followed by Glory Johnson with 13.9 ppg and a team high 8.7 rebounds per game, while Alisha Gray adds 11.9 ppg and 4.7 rpg.

Connecticut Sun have a 6-5 record so far this season (8-2 ATS) and currently sit on the third place of the East. They are running a five-game winning streak and in their last game they won on the road against the New York Liberty with a 94-89 score. Jonquel Jones leads the team in scoring with 15.6 ppg, adding a league-best 11.6 rebounds per game. She is followed by Jasmine Thomas with 13.9 ppg and a team high 4.8 assists per game, while Alyssa Thomas adds 13.1 ppg, 5.3 rpg and 4.6 assists per game.

Last season Connecticut led Dallas with a perfect 3-0 wins, winning twice on the road. Dallas have a negative 3-4 home record so far, while Connecticut are 4-3 on the road. Connecticut are better both offensively, scoring a third-best 86.3 ppg to Dallas’ 84.3, and defensively, allowing 80.6 ppg to Dallas’ league-low of 86.2. Connecticut also have better percentages both in FG’s, shooting with 44.3% to Dallas’ 41.7% (third-worse) and in 3-pointers, shooting with a league-best 42.8% to Dallas’ 30.8% (third-worse). The Sun are also better in rebounding, grabbing 36.1 to Wings’ 33.1. Dallas have been playing better lately but have been inefficient at home, so I’m going with Connecticut in this one.

Prediction: Connecticut Sun -3

WNBA Prediction: Washington Mystics at Chicago Sky
By Nick Lagouretos
Bangthebook.com

Two teams in opposing sides of the Eastern Conference and both struggling lately are clashing tonight, when the Chicago Sky (3-9), looking to turn their latest victory into a streak, are hosting the Washington Mystics (7-5), who are looking to snap their losing streak.

Chicago Sky have a 3-9 record so far this season (6-6 ATS) and currently sit on the last place of the East and second to last in the whole league. In their last game they snapped a two-game losing streak by winning on the road against Atlanta Dream with an 82-78 score, but are still 2-7 in their last 9 games. Allie Quigley leads the team in scoring with 16.4 ppg, followed by Stephanie Dolson with 12.9 ppg and 5.9. Cappie Pondexter adds 12.8 ppg and a team high 6.9 assists per game, while Tamera Young also adds 12.8 ppg.

Washington Mystics have a 7-5 record so far this season (5-7 ATS) and are currently tied with New York Liberty in the top of the East and third place of the whole league. They have lost three of their last four matches and in their last game they lost on the road against Minnesota Lynx with a 93-76 score. Elena Delle Donne leads the team in scoring with 20.1 ppg, adding team highs in rebounds with 6.8 per game, and blocks with 1.5 per game. She is followed by Tayler Hill with 16.4 ppg and a team high 3 assists per game.

This is the third matchup between those two teams so far this season, with Washington having won both previous matches. Last season Chicago led Washington 2-1 wins. Chicago are still winless at home with a 0-5 record, while Washington are 2-3 on the road. Washington are better both offensively, scoring 83 ppg to Chicago’s 77.4 (third-worse), and defensively, allowing 82.1 ppg to Chicago’s third-worse of 84.4. Chicago have a better field goal percentage (43.2% to 41.9%), while Washington have a better 3-point percentage (33.5% to 32.8%). Washington grab a second-best 36.5 rebounds per game, to Chicago’s third-best of 36.2. Washington want to bounce back and this is their perfect chance against a weak Chicago squad.

Prediction: Washington Mystics -7

WNBA Prediction: San Antonio Stars at Minnesota Lynx
By Nick Lagouretos
Bangthebook.com

A battle between the best and the worst team currently in the WNBA takes place tonight, when the almost perfect Minnesota Lynx (10-1) are hosting the only winless and by far the worse team in the league so far, the San Antonio Stars (0-13).

Minnesota Lynx have a league-best 10-1 record (6-4-1 ATS) and in their last game on Friday, they bounced back from their only defeat of the season by winning easily at home against the Washington Mystics with a 93-76 score. Sylvia Fowles leads the team in scoring with 20.9 ppg, adding team highs in rebounds with 10.3 per game, steals with 2.1 per game and blocks, with 2 per game. She is followed by Maya Moore with 15.5 ppg, 6.2 rpg, 4.4 apg and 1.7 steals per game.

San Antonio Stars have the worst record in the league with 0-13 (6-6-1 ATS) and are on their way to the worst season in the history of WNBA. They are coming from back-to-back losses against Dallas and in their last game on Friday they lost at home with an 81-69 score. Kayla McBride leads the team in scoring with 15.3 ppg and 4.8 rpg, followed by Monique Currie with 12.5 ppg and 4.9 rpg. Moriah Jefferson adds 10.2 ppg and a team high 4 assists per game, while Isabelle Harrison adds 10.6 ppg and 5 rpg.

In their previous meeting earlier this season, Minnesota won at home with an 80-66 score. Last season Minnesota had a perfect 3-0 against San Antonio. Minnesota have a 4-1 home record so far, while San Antonio are 0-7 on the road. Minnesota lead the league both in offense, scoring 87.8 ppg to San Antonio’s league-low of 72.4, and in defense, allowing 75.4 ppg to San Antonio’s 81.8. Minnesota also have the second-best percentage in the league both in field goals, shooting with 47.6% to San Antonio’s 41.4% (second-worse) and in 3-pointers with 37% to San Antonio’s 31%. Lynx are also better in rebounding, grabbing 35.4 to Stars’ 33.5. Minnesota are the absolute favorite in this game and expect them to win by more than 18 points tonight.

Prediction: Minnesota Lynx -18
