Betting Recap - 6/12-6/18
By Joe Williams
VegasInsider.com

League Betting Notes

Favorites went 8-4 straight up (SU)
Underdogs went 7-5 against the spread (ATS)
Home teams posted a 7-5 SU record
Road teams posted a 8-4 ATS record
The 'over/under' went 6-6

Team Betting Notes

Atlanta (5-5) started out hot, going 4-1 SU over the first five outings. They're fallen on hard times lately, however, going 1-4 SU over their past five games while failing to cover in five of the past six contests. They'll return home to face Chicago (2-9) on the road Friday.

The Dream and Sky have split two games already this season, each winning and covering on each's other floor. While the Sky have been atrocious overall, they're a respectable 3-1 ATS over their past four games.

Don't look now, but Connecticut (5-5) is the hottest team in the WNBA. They have ripped off four consecutive victories, including an unlikely road win at Minnesota (9-1) on Saturday as a 9 1/2-point underdog (ML +425). The Sun has been burning bright, too, covering in six in a row and eight of the past nine.

The loss by the Lynx was particularly shocking since it was their first of the season after a 9-0 start. The non-cover also snapped a 3-0 ATS run.

Dallas (5-8 ) slapped the brakes on a three-game losing streak with a win at Washington (7-4) as an eight-point 'dog. One thing that has been consistent for the Wings is the 'over', hitting in nine of the past 12 outings.

Indiana (6-6) won and covered each of their games last week to get back to .500 overall. They have been a tough out at home, going 5-1 SU/3-3 ATS.

Los Angeles (8-3) will travel to meet the Fever on Saturday. After a slow start the Sparks are hitting on all cylinders, heading to Indiana on a four-game winning streak. However, they're still just 2-3 ATS in five road outings this season.

New York (7-4) got back on track with a 102-93 win at Dallas on Friday, and they're now an impressive 5-1 ATS over the past six outings. Total bettors have been a huge fan of the Liberty, too, as the 'over' has connected in three in a row and seven of the past eight. The 'over' is also 3-0 in New York's past three road affairs.

Phoenix (6-5) took it on the chin in L.A. on Sunday, falling 90-59 in easily their worst loss of the season. The Mercury have been rather erratic this season, with their longest win streak at just two games. The Merc have also failed to cover in three in a row.

Seattle (6-5) posted a 75-57 victory at home against San Antonio (0-11), as the Stars continue their search for the eraser for the zero in their win column. The Stars kicked off the season 5-1 ATS over their first six, but they're struggling there, too. San Antonio is just 1-4 ATS over the past five outings.

WNBA Prediction: San Antonio Star at Dallas Wings
By Nick Lagouretos
Bangthebook.com

A battle between the two worse teams of the Western Conference takes place this evening when the Dallas Wings (5-8 ) who want to turn their latest victory into a streak, are hosting the San Antonio Stars (0-11), who are still looking for their virgin victory of the season.

Dallas Wings have a 5-8 record so far this season and currently sit on the second to last place of the West and in the third to last of the whole league. In their last game they snapped a three game losing streak by winning on the road against the Washington Mystics with a 83-87 score, but they are still 2-4 in their last six. Skylar Diggins-Smith leads the team in scoring with 16.9 ppg, adding a team high 5.6 assists per game. She is followed by Glory Johnson with 13.4 ppg and a team high 8.8 rebounds per game, while Alisha Gray adds 12.5 ppg and 5.1 rpg.

San Antonio Stats have a league-worse record of 0-11 so far this season and are the only winless team of the WNBA so far. In their last game on Monday they lost on the road against the Seattle Storm with a 75-57 score. Kayla McBride leads the team in scoring with 15.2 ppg and 5 rpg, followed by Isabelle Harrison with 11.1 ppg and 4.8 rpg, while Monique Currie adds 11.5 ppg and 4.8 rpg.

In their previous matchup earlier this season, Dallas won on the road with a 94-82 score. Dallas have a 2-4 home record so far this season, while San Antonio are 0-6 on the road. San Antonio are the worst offensive team with 72.2 ppg to Dallas’ 84.8, while Dallas are the worst defensive team, allowing 88.2 ppg to San Antonio’s 81.9. Dallas have better percentages both in field goals, with 42% to San Antonio’s second-worse of 40.3%, and in 3-pointers with 29.8% to San Antonio’s second-worse of 29.6%. San Antonio are only slightly better in rebounding, grabbing 34 to Dallas’ 33.5. Even with a negative home record, Dallas can overcome San Antonio’s resistance quite easily today by more than 7 points.

Prediction: Dallas Wings -7
