WNBA Prediction: Indiana Fever at Chicago Sky
By Nick Lagouretos
Bangthebook.com

Two of the bottom three teams of the Eastern Conference are clashing in this early game, when the struggling Chicago Sky (3-10), who are in a free fall this season after trading their star player Elena Delle Donne, are hosting the Indiana Fever (6-7), who are still trying to find their rhythm this season.

Chicago Sky have a 3-10 record so far this season (6-7 ATS) and currently sit on the last place of the East and second to last in the whole league. They have lost three of their last four matches and in their last game they lost at home against Washington Mystics with a 97-63 score. Allie Quigley leads the team in scoring with 16.6 ppg, followed by Stephanie Dolson with 12.8 ppg and 5.8 rpg. Cappie Pondexter adds 12.2 ppg and a team high 6.5 assists per game, while Tamera Young also adds 11.9 ppg.

Indiana Fever have a 6-7 record so far this season (5-7-1 ATS) and currently sit on the third to last place of the East. In their last game they saw a two-game winning streak getting snapped by losing at home against Los Angeles Sparks with an 84-73 score. Candice Dupree leads the team in scoring with 14.7 ppg, adding a team high 5.8 rebounds per game. She is followed by Tiffany Mitchell with 11.6 ppg, while Erica Wheeler adds 10.8 ppg and 3.2 apg.

In their previous matchup earlier this season, Indiana won on the road with a 91-79 score. Last season Indiana led Chicago 2-1 wins. Chicago are still winless at home with a 0-6 record, while Indiana are 1-5 on the road. Indiana are better offensively, scoring 79.5 ppg to Chicago’s second-worse of 76.3, while both teams are almost equal defensively allowing 85.4 and 85.5 ppg, being third and second-worse in the league. Indiana have a better FG percentage, shooting with 44.7% to Chicago’s 42.8%, while Chicago have a better 3-point percentage with 32.7% to Indiana’s second-worse of 29.5%. Chicago are better in rebounding, grabbing a third-best 35.6 to Indiana’s league-low of 27.8. Both teams are equally underwhelming so far this season and expect the home court to play a major factor today, so pick Chicago in this one.

Prediction: Chicago Sky +1.5
