Thursday WNBA Research
By IndianCowboy

Minny vs. Houston (EARLY game)

First Minny beat this team on the road in overtime when Houston didn't know how to finish games, then Houston went on the road to beat Minny outright as a 7 point dog with revenge, then Minny came back home to beat this team by 14 with revenge themselves, now Houston gets to get some revenge as it is their turn to even the series here as it is 2-1 in favor of Minny, of course 1 was an OT win, although Houston comes off a terrible road trip where they lost 3 in a row straight up, they did beat Sacramento, San Antonio and Indiana while covering all those ballgames as well. Public favorite or not, I lean on Houston here.

Washington vs. New York

New York beat this team by 19 at home in their last contest back in late May so Washington has a great deal of revenge coming into this game, Washington also comes off a nice win over Connecticut at home and New York has covered their last 4 ballgames, if anything I think Washington is likely to be an active dog here, but I hate wagering money on Washington and going against a New York team, it would not surprise me to see Washington show up and look for a backdoor cover here.

Los Angeles vs. Phoenix

LA first beat this team by 5 back in May earlier this year, then, Mercury went on the road to win outright as 9 point dogs, and then the Sparks beat them by 11 at home, the Mercury of course come off a tough loss to the Silver Stars at home and the Sparks come off a nice win over the Silver Stars at home, ironically that loss feuled San Antonio to then go into Phoenix and win. Lean on the Mercury here given their revenge, coming off a loss and the Sparks have also been drilled in their last 2 road games by 36 total points. I just don't trust Phoenix though, probably just staying away.

Thursday's comp play:

(1 of the 4 selections on paid purchase chard, never the pod, just one of the selections on the card)
Will do comp plays when there is more than 2 plays on the card, just adds another feature to the thread every week:

Pirates/Rockies Under 9.5

The under is 5-0 when Maholm starts on the road with the current total set at 9.5 to 10.5, the under is 5-1 for the Rockies following a loss and 4-1-1 in the last 6 games between these 2 teams.

Maholm has pitched well in his last 6 of 7 starts which has all been quality, as he has made a big come back the second half of this season, while Jiminez, had a 4.50 era against the Mets in his last start as he nearly outdueled Pedro and lost 0-3 on the road at New York. Neither pitcher has faced the other this year and both ironically had a 1.29 ERA against the other in last years' starts against the opposing teams, Maholm has pitched in 3 straight unders and Jiminez has pitched in 7 straight unders as well, if anything a lean on the under here as the side is a tossup and remember, Jiminez is on a bounce-back and is 3-2 on the year with a 2.67 era at home.
