It must feel like the sky is falling for Chicago. In their last two outings, the Sky have watched their opponents drain countless buckets, burying the team in a two-game losing skid.
Chicago’s defense couldn’t do anything to stop the Washington Mystics Friday, allowing Washington to shoot nearly 62 percent from the field for a 95-78 beating. The game before that, the Sky could only hold the New York Liberty to 53 percent shooting from the floor, falling 85-70.
"They just got a lot of easy shots," Chicago guard Dominique Canty told the Chicago Daily Herald following Friday’s defeat. "We got away from our defensive game plan."
Throwing salt on the wound was an injury to starting center Shameka Christon Friday. She played just three minutes before taking an elbow to the face. She left the game and was taken to hospital for observation. Christon is averaging 8.5 point and two blocks per game this season. Her status for Tuesday is unknown.
"She's a big loss," guard Jia Perkins said of Christon. "She's a big part of our team offensively and defensively."
