Wednesday's Best WNBA Bet

Tulsa Shock at Atlanta Dream (-10.5, 178)

When it rains it pours for the Tulsa Shock.

The Shock, who are winless in their last five games, will be without starting guard Shanna Crossley for at least a week after she was hospitalized with a staph infection this past weekend.

“She will likely be out 8-10 days,” Tulsa coach Nolan Richardson told the Tulsa World. “There’s a possibility that she could come back a little sooner but to be safe, I’d say 8-10 days.”

Crossley is averaging almost 11 points per game and has cracked double figures in five of her 11 games this year, including a 20-point effort against the Chicago Sky at the beginning of the month.

“Her spirits are good,” Richardson said. “Her husband, Andrew, is here with her. She’s happy from the standpoint that it’s not as bad as it could have been. To me, it’s a matter of time for her to heal.”

This injury couldn’t come at a worse time. Tulsa lost its fifth straight game, falling 92-78 to the Minnesota Lynx Saturday and hasn’t covered a pointspread since June 4. This slump has dropped the Shock to 3-8 straight up and against the spread – dead last in the WNBA.
