Can the Oregon Ducks repeat the success they achieved last year in 2008? Oddsmakers have made Oregon a 100/1 long shot to win the 2009 BCS National Championship.
Justin Roper takes over for Dennis Dixon this year at quarterback. Roper threw for just 342 yards in limited action last year. Andre Crenshaw (415 rushing yards) returns to the Ducks’ backfield and Jaison Williams (844 yards) will return as Oregon’s leading receiver. Defensivley, safety Patrick Chung (117 tackles), defensive end Nick Reed (12 sacks) and cornerback Jarius Byrd (seven interceptions) all return as well.
No matter which online sports book you check out, they all list Oregon as a long shot. Oddsmakers from online sports book Bodog and Sportsbook.com have made the Ducks a 100/1 long shot to win the BCS National Championship this season, while SBG Global lists them at 60/1.
Oregon found great success last year, but they have issues at quarterback and running back. Those concerns should be nullified a bit thanks in large part to an inexperienced offensive line. Center Max Unger is a future NFL prospect, while Mark Lewis and Fenuki Tupou return to a solid unit. If the backfield can overachieve, the Ducks could again surprise in 2008.
