The Wisconsin Badgers look to build on the success they made in 2007 and have been ranked No. 12 in the nation. Oddsmakers have made the Badgers a 30/1 long shot to win the 2009 BCS National Championship.
Wisconsin welcomes back a huge part of their offense with the return of junior running back PJ Hill. Fantastic pass-catching tight end Travis Beckum and guards Andy Kemp and Kraig Urbik also return. Defensively, cornerback Allen Langford, linebackers DeAndre Levy, Elijah Hodge and Jonathan Casillas, defensive end Matt Shaughnessy and free safety Shane Carter all return.
Wisconsin’s odds to win the 2009 BCS Championship are fairly consistent across the board at all the major online sports books. Oddsmakers from online sports book Bodog have made the Badgers a 30/1 long shot, while Sportsbook.com has them at 40/1 and SBG Global at 30/1.
The Badgers are going to lean on Hill all season and if they can get another solid performance from their defense, they’re going to be competitive again in 2008. Outside of Ohio State, the Big Ten is weak this year. So if Wisconsin can pull off an upset against the Buckeyes, they should have a relatively easy time getting past the rest of the Big 10 opponents. At 30/1 odds, the Badgers could be a potential value to win the 2009 BCS National Championship and the Big Ten.
