Betting Preview: Packers at Rams

The St. Louis Rams are searching for their first win of the year while the Green Bay Packers are searching for answers to fix their offensive line. The two teams will square off on Sunday at the Edward Jones Dome.

Bet NFL Week 3

The Bengals shocked the Packers last week as Green Bay failed to cover the 7.5-point spread as favorites in a 31-24 defeat. Aaron Rodgers threw for 261 yards and a touchdown but he was harassed by Cincinnati defensive end Antwan Odom, who racked up five sacks on the day. Rodgers also got little to no help from his receivers outside of Donald Driver, who caught six passes for 99 yards and a touchdown.

The Rams also lost last week, although they covered the 10-point spread as underdogs in a 9-7 defeat to the Redskins. Marc Bulger threw for a paltry 123 yards and a touchdown, while Laurent Robinson caught six passes for 54 yards and a touchdown.

Oddsmakers from online sports book Sports Interaction have made the Rams 7-point home underdogs against the Packers this week. The over/under total for this game has been set at 41.

Green Bay is without a doubt the better team in this matchup, but that doesn’t mean the Packers don’t have some issues to iron out. For starters, their offensive line has not played well thus far, especially the right tackle position. Rodgers has constantly been on the run and while he’s doing the best he can to keep the offense afloat, he can’t consistently perform under the amount of duress he’s facing on a weekly basis.

The Rams aren’t a good football team, but they can rush the passer. Chris Long and Leonard Little could have field days against Green Bay’s brutal offensive line and as long as they can find a way to limit the big plays Rodgers is able to make in the passing game, St. Louis will be able to keep this one close.

The only issue is that the Rams’ offense has been terrible so far in two games. The Packers’ defense looked bad last week against Cincinnati, so maybe St. Louis will find it easier to move the ball this week at home.

We recommend taking the home team getting points in this contest and also the under. The total has gone under in four of Green Bay’s last six games on the road.

Our NFL Week 3 Free Pick for this game is: ST. LOUIS RAMS +6.5 and UNDER 41.
