Preseason Betting: Dolphins at Bucs Odds & Picks
The Miami Dolphins look to stay undefeated in preseason as they travel upstate to take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Thursday night at 8:00PM ET on FOX.
The last time these two teams met was back in October of 2005, when Tampa waxed Miami 27-13 and easily covered the 3-point spread. But times have obviously changed since then, as the Dolphins are coming off a division-winning season and hope to build on the momentum of their two previous preseason games.
The Dolphins edged out the Jaguars 12-9 in their preseason opener two weeks ago, as starting quarterback Chad Pennington was 4-of-7 for 38 yards. Then last week in a 27-17 victory over the Panthers, Pennington went 8-of-11 for 105 yards and a touchdown, proving his more than ready for the season opener.
Oddsmakers from online sports book SBGGLOBAL have made the Dolphins 2-point road underdogs against the Buccaneers on Thursday night. The over/under total for this game has been established at 36.
The trends favor Miami and the under in this contest, as the Dolphins are 5-1 against the spread playing on six or less days of rest and Tampa Bay is 26-11 under as a favorite.
Even though they’re on the road, Miami is a strong bet tonight. Teams typically play their starters well into the third quarter in their third preseason game, and the Dolphins just have more talent than the Bucs do at this point. They’re also a more polished team, so take the two points and Miami in this matchup.
