According to current college football bowl odds and oddsmakers from online sports book SBGGLOBAL.com, Clemson is a 5.5-point favorite over South Florida in the 2010 Meinke Car Care Bowl. The over/under total for this game is currently 40.5.
The Bulls come into this game with a 7-5 record but were just 5-7 against the spread according to latest college football trends. The under hit in eight of their 12 games this season as they held opponents to just 19.5 points per game.
The Tigers finished 6-6 to barely quality for a bowl and failed to cover in seven of their 12 overall games. The under hit in 10 of their 12 games this season, as they held opponents to just 17.8 points per contest.
2010 Meinke Car Care Bowl Pick:
Clemson’s offense has been rather ordinary this season and South Florida is tough to run against (the Bulls rank 33rd in the nation in that category). That said, it won’t be the Tigers’ offense that wins this game, it’ll be their defense (which has been the case all season for Clemson). Bronko Nagurski Trophy winner Da’Quan Bowers leads a defense that is ranked ninth in the nation in scoring and 23rd in total defense. South Florida’s offense has been rather inconsistent this year, scoring 16 points or less in each of their five losses. We think B.J. Daniels will struggle after missing the season finale against UCONN and he tends to struggle with turnovers. As long as Kyle Parker can limit the mistakes, we like Clemson to win by a touchdown or more.
