In a rematch of Week 17, the Arizona Cardinals host the Green Bay Packers in the opening round of the 2010 NFL Playoffs on 4:30PM ET on Sunday.
The Packers beat Cardinals 33-7 as a 2-point underdog in Week 17, while the combined score went over the posted total of 42 points.
Quarterback Aaron Rodgers threw for 235 yards with a touchdown pass and run for Green Bay, while running back Ryan Grant rushed for 51 yards and a touchdown on 11 carries in the win.
Matt Leinart threw for just 96 yards with two interceptions for Arizona, while receiver Larry Fitzgerald was held to three catches for 17 yards and a touchdown.
Oddsmakers from online sports book Sports Interaction have made the Packers a 1-point road favorite over the Cardinals for this Wildcard matchup. The over/under total for this game has been set at 47 points.
It appears that the general consensus loves the Packers in this matchup after they blew the Cardinals out last Sunday. But let’s take a step back for a second and re-evaluate the situation shall we?
The Cardinals had nothing to play for last week after the Vikings had secured the No. 2 spot at 1:00PM by beating the Giants. They were highly unmotivated and chose to rest a couple of key starters, none bigger than quarterback Kurt Warner.
Arizona is going to look like a different team on Sunday and we love the fact that the public is overpaying for Green Bay. Don’t forget that this will be Rodgers first playoff game in his career and it’s hard to beat the same team in back to back weeks. Plus, which team tipped their hand last week? That would be the Packers.
We love the Cardinals in this matchup and we’ll gladly take the gift 1-point spread, but we won’t need it. Arizona wins it outright in a shootout.
