2010 Super Bowl Saints vs. Colts: Who Will Score the First Touchdown?
One of the more intriguing prop odds offered on Super Bowl Sunday is which player will score the first touchdown.
Oddsmakers from online sports book SBGGLOBAL.com offer a variety of odds on who will score the first touchdown in Super Bowl XLIV for most of the offensive players on the Indianapolis Colts and the New Orleans Saints. According to the oddsmakers, tight end Dallas Clark, running back Joseph Addai or receiver Reggie Wayne are the most likely to score first in the 2010 Super Bowl.
Clark, Addai and Wayne are all +700 on the moneyline to score first, while running back Pierre Thomas of the Saints is listed right behind them at +800. The next best odds are New Orleans’ receiver Marques Colston and Indianapolis’ wideout Pierre Garcon, whom each have +1000 odds.
Some of the long shots that are worth a look are the two quarterbacks, who may have the opportunity to run in a score if their teams get close enough to the goal line for a sneak. Peyton Manning is +3000 to score first and Drew Brees has similar odds at +2500.
Other popular players that offer value are Reggie Bush of the Saints at +1200, Jeremy Shockey at +2000 and Devery Henderson at +1200. In New Orleans’ previous two playoff games, Lynell Hamilton (vs. Cardinals) and Thomas (vs. Vikings) scored first. Hamilton wasn’t given prop odds for the Super Bowl, meaning he would be part of “The Field” at +600.
For the Colts, rookie receiver Austin Collie scored the team’s first touchdown against the Ravens and Jets, respectively. He has been given +1200 odds on the moneyline to repeat that feat against the Saints in the Super Bowl.
