2012 NFL Week 1 Picks & Predictions: Redskins vs. Saints
By Anthony Rome

NEW ORLEANS, LA (The Spread) – The Saints have been nearly unbeatable at home over the past few years but will RGIII and the Redskins keep things close?

NFL Odds: Oddsmakers have installed the Saints as 9-point favorites over the Redskins, while the over/under total is currently sitting at 49.5 points.

Line Movement: The Saints opened as 8.5-point favorites but the line has jumped to 9 as the majority of public bettors currently favor New Orleans.

Public Betting: Of the wagers currently placed on this game, 73% of NFL public bettors currently favor the Saints. This information is subject to change leading up to kickoff, however, so make sure you click on the link provided for the most up-to-date NFL public betting numbers.

NFL Playoff Free Pick: Take the over. The Saints will continue to have one of the most explosive offenses in the NFL, with or without Sean Payton calling the plays. Pete Carmichael called the plays last year for the Saints when Payton missed a game due to a leg injury and New Orleans wound up scoring 72 points against the hapless Colts. On the other side, the Redskins should rack up plenty of points with RGIII at the helm, even though Mike Shanahan may play things conservatively early on. According to latest NFL trends, the over is 5-0 in the Saints’ last five games overall and 5-0 in their last five versus the NFC. The over is also 5-1 in the last six meetings between these two teams.
