COLLEGE FOOTBALL BOWL PICK: Take Wisconsin. According to latest college football trends, Wisconsin is 4-9 ATS in their last 13 games following a S.U. win, 2-9 ATS in their last 11 games after accumulating more than 200 yards rushing in their previous game, 1-6 ATS in their last 7 games following a SU win of more than 20 points, 0-6 ATS in their last 6 games after scoring more than 40 points in their previous game and 0-5 ATS in their last 5 non-conference games. Stanford is 10-1 ATS in their last 11 non-conference games, 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games following a ATS loss, 19-6-1 ATS in their last 26 games on grass, 36-16-1 ATS in their last 53 games following a S.U. win and are 38-17-1 ATS in their last 56 games overall.

Wisconsin will go to the Rose Bowl with a new coach, who is an old one. Current athletic director Barry Alvarez takes over for Bret Bielema (for just this game), who accepted the job at Arkansas. Alvarez took Wisconsin to three Rose Bowls and won all three. There aren't many surprises for this Badgers squad. It's basically get the ball to Montee Ball, the Doak Walker Award winner as the nation's top back. Ball ran for 1,730 yards and 21 touchdowns. He also had 202 yards rushing and three scores in their dominant performance against Nebraska. QB Curt Phillips was 2-2 as a game-manager for the Badgers, but Joel Stave (collarbone) expects to play. He might not start, but Stave offers a powerful arm and can give the offense a downfield passing game. Stanford doesn't offer much in the air as Kevin Hogan is an accurate young passer, who will mainly look to throw to tight end Zach Ertz, who had 66 receptions for 837 yards. Stanford's strength is the running game, led by Stepfan Taylor, who rushed for 1,442 yards and 12 TDs to become the all-time Cardinal rusher. He'll be going up against the nation's 12th-ranked defense, which averages allowing 111.3ypg against the run. Expect a low-scoring, physical game, with Wisconsin making this a field goal game and covering with ease.
