2014 BCS National Championship Odds – Alabama Favored By Oddsmakers
By Drew Sharper

(The Spread) – After a dominant victory in the 2013 BCS National Championship Game, Alabama is already the favorite to win the title again next season.

According to oddsmakers from Bovada.lv, the Crimson Tide are a 3/1 favorite to win the national title next season. Other short odds to win are Oregon (8/1), Ohio State (17/2) and LSU (11/1).

Alabama won the national title for the third time in four years on Monday night with a 42-14 thrashing of Notre Dame. Alabama seems to simply reload each season with great recruiting classes and Nick Saban has established himself as a cut above the rest when it comes to college coaches.

Oregon has the explosive offense that many desire, but that hasn’t been enough for the Ducks to break through and win a national title. Oregon reached the title game in 2011 but fell short, and since they haven’t been able to string together an unbeaten season. It does appear Chip Kelly is returning to coach the team, which should keep them as a strong contender.

Ohio State actually went 12-0 this past season, but couldn’t contend for the national title due to a postseason ban from the NCAA. That will be gone next season and Urban Meyer has a strong quarterback in Braxton Miller, along with a defense that should continue to improve. He is trying to bring the SEC style of team building to Ohio State.

LSU is one of the teams to have been part of this seven-year win streak with SEC schools. The Tigers won the 2008 game and have been trying to regain the title since. The Tigers lost the 2012 game against Alabama. LSU should have another strong team with a lot of offensive weapons returning and more strong defensive players.
