2014 College Football Week 3 Tennessee vs. Oklahoma Picks & Predictions
By Anthony Rome
NORMAN, OK (The Spread) – After routing Alabama in the Sugar Bowl last season, No. 4 Oklahoma will get another crack at a SEC foe when it hosts unranked Tennessee tonight at 8:00PM ET.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, Oklahoma is a 20.5-point favorite over Tennessee for tonight's game while the total is currently sitting at 56.5 points. The Sooners opened as 21-point favorites before the line was bet down, while the total opened at 54.5 before being bet up.
The Vols raced out to a 24-12 halftime lead last Saturday versus Arkansas State before capping off a 34-19 victory as a 16-point home favorite. The combined score went under the posted total of 58.5 points as Jalen Hurd rushed for 83 yards and a touchdown on 23 carries. Marquez North also added 68 yards receiving on four catches and scored twice.
The Sooners routed Tulsa 52-7 as a 24-point road favorite in Week 2, while the combined score barely went over the posted total of 57 points. Quarterback Trevor Knight completed 21-of-34 passes for 299 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions while three different ballcarriers combined to rush for four TDs.
NCAA Free Pick: Take the over. According to latest college football trends, the over is 7-1 in the Vols' last eight games following a straight up win, 7-3 in their last 10 road games and 13-6 in their last 19 non-conference games. The over is also 4-1 in their last five home games, 5-0-1 in their last six games overall and 5-0 in their last five non-conference games. If Tennessee doesn't take its foot off the gas like it did last week versus Tulsa, then the over should hit easily in this one.
