2014 Heisman Odds
VegasInsider.com

The 2014 Heisman Trophy race is already being discussed, although the college football season is still more than three months away from officially kicking off.

Florida State QB Jameis Winston, the defending Heisman Trophy champion, is making headlines during the offseason similar to Heisman predecessor Johnny Manziel. However, the headlines aren't necessarily flattering or good. A shoplifting incident has Winston starting off on the wrong foot in his defense of the crown.

Four times this decade we have seen the Heisman Trophy winner return to school the following season in an attempt to join Ohio State's Archie Griffin as the only two-time winner of the award. Will Winston be able to do what Sam Bradford, Matt Leinart, Manziel and Tim Tebow were unable to do? So far, Winston enters the 2014 season as the favorite according to oddsmakers at Sportsbook.ag.

A quarterback has claimed the hardware in 12 of the past 14 seasons, and each of the past five. Will Georgia's Todd Gurley (9/1), the highest rated non-quarterback, be able to ruin the streak, or will it be another quarterback like Oregon's Marcus Mariota (7/1) or Ohio State's Braxton Miller (7/1) to unseat Winston, yet keep the award in the quarterback family?
