2014 NFL Week 1 Preseason Eagles vs. Bears Picks & Predictions
By ATSSportsline.com
CHICAGO, IL (The Spread) – Week 1 of the 2014 NFL preseason continues tonight and fans in Chicago could see some fireworks when the Bears host the Eagles.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the Bears and Eagles are a pick’em tonight for their 8:00PM ET kick off. The total, meanwhile, is currently sitting at 42 points at most online and Vegas sports books. The number is a little higher than most preseason totals but that’s because the offenses for these two teams are both explosive.
The Bears upgraded their defense this offseason, signing defensive end Jared Allen, defensive tackle/end Lamaar Houston and former Lions DE Willie Young. They also drafted cornerback Kyle Fuller in the first round, LSU defensive tackle Ego Ferguson in the second, and Arizona defensive tackle Will Sutton in the third. But the offense is where this team’s strength lies, thanks in large part to all-purpose back Matt Forte, receivers Alshon Jeffery and Brandon Marshall, and quarterback Jay Cutler.
On the other side of the field tonight will be the Eagles and Chip Kelly’s up-tempo offense, led by running back LeSean McCoy and quarterback Nick Foles. The team did release receiver DeSean Jackson, who signed with the Redskins, but Jeremy Maclin returns after tearing his ACL and missing all of the 2013 season.
NFL Preseason Week 1 Free Pick: Take the over. These two defenses still have plenty of question marks and even if the offenses are only on the field for a series or two, you should see plenty of points. While the total is high for an exhibition game, the two teams should put up plenty of points tonight.
