2015 NFL Week 2 Bucs vs. Saints Picks & Predictions
By Anthony Rome
Football fans that enjoy defense should turn away from Sunday's 1:00PM ET kickoff between the Bucs and Saints. Over bettors, however, should rejoice.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, Sean Payton and the Saints are 10-point home favorites versus the Buccaneers after opening as 10.5-point favorites. As for the total, it opened at 48.5 but has been bet down to 47.
The Saints scored a touchdown on just 1-of-4 red zone visits in their Week 1 loss to the Cardinals but they should have more success today against a hapless Tampa Bay defense that was shredded a week ago by Tennessee. Despite the loss, Drew Brees was still 30-of-48 passing for 355 yards with one touchdown and an interception off a tipped pass to Marques Colston. Sean Payton's offense has always been more explosive on the carpet on the Superdome and today should be no different.
Rookie Jameis Winston should also contribute to a high-scoring game today after he was awful in his NFL debut last week. He threw two touchdowns but was also intercepted twice and fumbled in the second quarter despite nobody around him. He was careless with the ball at times last year at Florida State and that carelessness apparently transferred over to his pro game. Look for the Saints to get plenty of scoring opportunities not only due to Tampa Bay's defense, but Winston's sloppiness as well.
The over is 12-3 in the Saints' last 15 games in Week 2 of the season and 5-1 in their last six games in September, including in their loss last week to the Cardinals.
