Starting on Thursday and continuing on Sunday, there are fully 8 home dogs this week in the NFL. Now before you start betting these puppies blindly, just remember that they aren't doing as well as they were the first half of the season where they were tearing them up the first 4 weeks.
The most I remember on a 16 game schedule was probably back in 1997 when there were 9 home dogs, and I was visiting the Hard Rock Hotel on a Sunday. Since the home dogs were doing so well that year, I decided to fire on every one of them blindly. Naturally the trend decided to take a turn the other way that day, and I wound up losing 7 of the nine! Figures!
This week I could make a case for betting 6 of them. Not that I'm betting them yet, but here are the ones that I feel I could make a case for betting on them.
JAGUARS +6.5 Might be 7 by game day the way the Colts are playing and the public will probably load up on the Colts. But the Jags are at home and with last weeks win vs. Packers, might give them the momentum to play the Colts tough like they usually do.
TITANS + 1.5 What a game this should be! Titans should be ready to turn things around after losing a close one to the Texans. Steelers have faced the Chargers, Patriots, Cowboys and Ravens the last four weeks where they came away with four victories. But playing four strong defensive teams like this can take its toll on a team, especially when playing a fifth one in a row! Could be the perfect place for the Titans to get back on track.
CHIEFS +4.5 Just what a warm weather team needs is to visit the midwest when a major cold front is passing through and bringing sub-freezing temperatures. Chiefs have at least been competitive at home and could give the Dolphins all they can handle.
REDSKINS +5 Although the Skins haven't been playing up to par lately, just throw out the record books when these two get together. Remember, no team is as good or as bad as their last game!
RAMS +5.5 49ERS traveling East for their second early game in a row. They got the cover vs. the Dolphins, but this second trip east might take its toll. 49ers 4-1 ATS last 5, while the Rams are 1-4 ATs the last 5.
SEAHAWKS +5 Now here's a case where we have an East Coast team traveling west for a late game, and boy are these Jets horrible when they hit the western part of the USA. So far they've lost to the Chargers, Raiders and 49ers when visiting the west coast. If you can't beat the Raiders, how the heck are you going to beat the Hawks?
