California at Minnesota Betting Preview

A dominant offense looks to keep rolling over whoever is in its path on Saturday when No. 8 California travels to Minnesota to face the Golden Gophers at Noon ET from TCF Bank Stadium.

Bet Cal at Minnesota

The Golden Bears have outscored their opponents 111-20 in their two victories this season. Last week, Cal defeated Eastern Washington 59-7. Heisman candidate Jahvid Best rushed for 144 yards and a touchdown on 17 carries, as the Golden Bears racked up 342 yards rushing as a team. Covaughn DeBoskie-Johnson rushed for 92 yards and a touchdown on 11 carries in the win while Shane Vereen added three touchdown runs. Defensively, Cal held Eastern Washington to 235 yards of offense and just 14 yards rushing as a team.

Like Cal, Minnesota is 2-0 on the season, but the Golden Gophers have not had an easy time winning. Minnesota defeated Syracuse 23-20 in overtime in the season opener and last week beat Air Force 20-13. Minnesota trailed for most of the game, but scored 17 points in the fourth quarter to get past the Falcons. DeLeon Eskridge rushed for a 7-yard touchdown and Tim Jefferson had a 1-yard touchdown run where he fumbled, but the Gophers recovered to give Minnesota the lead. Jefferson managed the game, but only threw for 125 yards passing in the game. Minnesota was out-gained in the game 386-327 and Air Force had 10 more first downs than Minnesota, but the Gophers found a way to win, and that is all that matters in today’s college football

Oddsmakers from online sports book BetOnline have made Cal 14-point road favorites over Minnesota on Saturday afternoon. The over/under total for this game has been established at 53.5.
