CFB Week 2 Pick – LSU To Cover The Spread At Vanderbilt
By Drew Sharper
LSU was on its way to a 20-point win over a ranked opponent this week, but a poor finish has made the Tigers just 9.5-point favorites at Vanderbilt on Saturday.
LSU is a 9.5-point favorite at Vanderbilt according to oddsmakers from online sports book BroburySports.com and the over/under has been set at 43.5.
LSU is 0-1 against the spread this season while hitting the over in the game. The Tigers are just 1-3 ATS as favorites of 3.5-to-10 points since 2008. Also during that time period, LSU is 8-17 ATS in all lined games and 5-12 ATS as a favorite. LSU has hit the over in 7-of-9 games on the road since 2008.
Vanderbilt is 1-0 against the spread this season while hitting the over in the one contest. The Commodores are just 4-8 ATS in home games since 2008 but 5-1 ATS in September games during that stretch. Vandy has hit the under in 8-of-9 games since 2008 where it is an underdog of 3.5-to-10 points. It also has hit the under in 14-of-16 games against conference opponents since 2008.
While LSU stunk it up the last 15 minutes against North Carolina, it still won by six and that Tar Heels team is still better than Vanderbilt despite the suspensions. The Tigers will find ways to score on occasion while keeping Vandy off the scoreboard for the most part. With the spread less than 10 points, we like LSU to cover and the under for this game.
