CFB Week 2 Pick – Take Tennessee With The Points Vs. Oregon
By Drew Sharper

Oregon showed it can score points, but can it run up the score on the road at Tennessee on Saturday night?

Bet Oregon at Tennessee

Oregon is an 11.5-point favorite on the road against Tennessee according to oddsmakers from online sports book BroburySports.com. The over/under has been set at 53.5.

Oregon is 1-0 against the spread this season while hitting the over in a 72-0 win over New Mexico. The Ducks are 15-12 ATS in games over the last three seasons but just 3-6 ATS in games on grass fields during that stretch. Since 2008, the Ducks have hit the over in 15-of-20 games when favored and hit the over in 16-of-22 games on Saturday nights since 2008.

Tennessee has not played in a lined game this season, but the Volunteers are just 1-7 against the spread vs. the Pac-10 since 1992 and 0-2 ATS against the conference over the last three seasons. The Volunteers are 6-9 ATS in home games since 2008. In 11 games, spanning three seasons, Tennessee has hit the under 8 times as an underdog.

Tennessee has a long way to go before it can contend with the top talent in the country. But, one thing the Volunteers do have, is a good defense, especially against the run. Oregon has struggled on the road against non-conference opponents, as it lost at Boise State to start last season and went to double overtime at Purdue in 2008. The Ducks won’t be able to run the ball as effectively as it is used to and be forced to utilize an inexperienced quarterback in Darron Thomas. For those reasons, we like Tennessee at home with the points and the under.
